Marni's sister in law recently had a beautiful baby boy and she was lucky enough to be there at his birth. It was an amazing experience and this layout is dedicated to the amazing miracle of birth. Marni decided to stick with mainly soft blues to accentuate the feeling of a baby boy. She has used some of the Sassafras Lass patterned papers, Lil Davis chipboard shapes, Heidi Swapp chipboard letters and Basic Grey letter stickers.
To bring attention to the photo Marni cut all the flower shapes out of the Sassafras papers and then arranged them around the photo in a circle. Marni used the Stitched Borders stamp to create the basis for the stitched border around her page. She simply stamped the border then used the impression left to guide her as to where to put the holes for her stitching.
This was one of those “not so perfect” photos - it was taken in the dark and Mel’s great nephew’s head was partly cut off the side of the photo, but Mel just had to scrap it anyway. This is Oscar’s first taste of Easter Egg chocolate , or “chockie, chockies” as Oscar likes to call it. Judging by the classic look on his face after that first bite – pure joy! It would be safe to say that he loves chocolate.
Mel has mimicked the star shape in Oscar's PJ's by cutting out a large star from the Sassafras Lass papers. She then hand stitched around the edge and used the Sassafras Lass nester stamps to create cool patterns inside the star.
Caz’s husbands Nan turned 96 this year. She still lives by herself and gets around well considering her age. They celebrated with a family bbq, not because 96 is any particular milestone but because every extra year they get to have Great Nan in their lives is a bonus.
Caz has used mostly the new SEI Penelope’s Potpourri papers with some Hippie Chick thrown in to match the many colours in the photo. Caz cut out some of the larger flowers to create a small bouquet in the bottom left corner.
Instead of machine stitching on this layout, Caz has used the Sassafras Lass stitched border stamps.
Tamar’s celebration pages will focus on a series of weekend activities - not the normal everyday ones, but the special things. Richard and Tamar work long hours and the girls spend much of the week in day care - they only see the girls for a short time through the weekdays so they try to do special things on the weekends. It’s their time to relax and celebrate life as a family. This week Tamar and the girls made a Herb Garden.
Tamar has used Sassafras papers and the cute larger than life die cuts add a whimsical touch to the page. Sass has a great range of stamps too - because they are clear you can place ink and then the image exactly where you want it to be. Tamar partially inked one of the Fancy Schmancy Tags stamps to create the border around the two matted photos.
With this layout Rachel wanted to capture a celebration of a different kind. Rach has been a supporter of the Sydney Swans since they first came to Sydney, and she remembers getting free entry to the game by wearing red or purchasing QBE insurance!! So she was so proud when they won a premiership last year, as it had been 77 years since South Melbourne won it. This layout reflects that celebration as well as the more immediate celebration of them beating the Kangaroos in a thrilling game at Manuka Oval in Canberra earlier this year.
Rachel used the Sassafras Lass nester stamps including the Party Time stamp from the Flock of Cards set, and her Sassafras Doodled Stars stamps over the Heidi Swapp chipboard stars. Rachel has also used the Fontwerks George Outline Stamp, SRP North Shore Strips, Heidi Swapp Numbers decorative tape, Heidi Swapp chipboard frames and a Heidi Swapp chipboard kit (Preppy).
Nic has used a recent photo of two her college friends. In her layout she wanted to show that now matter how far apart they maybe or how long it has been in between visits some friendships are built to last, and friendship should be celebrated everyday.
Nic has used a mixture of Scenic Route Cape Town papers, with Junkitz flowers, Heidi Swapp letters, and a Heidi Swapp ghost frame to frame the photo, as well as Sassafras Lass nester stamps. The Sassafras Lass Stamps form part of the heading, using a black Stazon ink.
