So this week we asked the design team what they could do with circles. And this amazing array of eye candy is what they came back with.
For this challenge Donna decided to think 'patterned paper'. Being a embellishment-kind-of-girl, this wasn't as easy for her as you might think! Donna started with a bold Scenic Route patterned paper that features small red polka dots on a hot pink background. Donna then gradually layered some hand-cut circles from the new Sassafrass Lass Blue Botique line of papers. Circles feature heavily throughout this range and their whimiscal, cheeky designs make them perfect for little girls. To further emphasise the circles in these designs, Donna has used a black pen to trace around each element within the patterned paper. For a little added fun, Donna has incorporated a few of the 'You Go Girl' range of Queen and Co. brads.
Circles feature in this layout by Nic Howard in several ways. The basis of her layout is created with BasicGrey's Pheobe Pier paper which has lots of tiny circles, from there Nic has built bigger circles with Scenic Route Metropolis Kraft papers embellished with Queen & Co Beads and the final circle element is a large button circle.
When Suz's daughter Phoebe buried herself in one of her flowing princess dress up skirts and called out 'pick me, pick me mummy - i'm a flower' of course Suz had to reach straight for the camera. BasicGrey turquoises made a stunning foil to the hot pinks of the photos, reminiscent of a water lily pond. Each circle photo has been hand stitched around and an oval Heidi Swapp bling frame has been cut to resemble a stem.
The chocolate brown of the BasicGrey Urban Couture circle slightly off-centre in this layout by Suz provides a focal point where nobody in the photo is looking at the camera. Lil Davis plastic alphabet stickers work perfectly with Heidi Swapp journalling spots, and Suz has cut out some more circular flowers from the Urban Couture patterned paper, which she has raised slightly with foam tape to give some dimension to the layout.
Chris used a large circle background and has cropped 3 smaller photos into the circle shape to keep with the beach theme of her focal point photo. She has used the new Scenic Route North Shore papers along with Basic Grey Rub-ons - Gypsy border and Carolee's Creations rub-ons to create a lovely, fresh beachy feel to this layout.
Circles are one of Jaimie’s current fetishes. For this Page she has cut out Circles from the cherryArte Cosmic Energy range, Space View paper and layered them directly to her background then using a circle cutter she overlayed two larger circles which sit under her photos as well as handsewing two more circles in coordinating coloured thread. To break up the circle onslaught she has added some of the cherryArte rectangular tags and placed a large star in the corner – the Heidi Swapp Schizophrenic alphas title finish off this Personality plus LO of her son.
To highlight her son Jesse’s antics in this photo, Caz created a circle of brads around his face. The journaling was printed directly on the photos and then has been raised using a small piece of chipboard. The colours in the title were used to reflect the colours in Caz’s jacket.
This is a typical family photo in Caz’s house. Her husband Wayne has little patience for taking more than one photo. There are no multiple photos to choose from, you get one shot at it and that’s it. The girls are threatened to look straight ahead and smile NO MATTER WHAT. Jesse always does something silly and Jordan can never help but look at him. Luckily Darcy actually does as she’s told.
For this weeks circle challenge Mel created a delightful little circle shaped mini album using the Cosmo Cricket Dutch girl papers. The papers were perfect as some of them contain circles in their designs, which were just what Mel needed for this project. Heidi Swapp bling circles have also been used throughout the album.
