When I was first presented with a scrapbook page, I have to admit I really didn't think it was my thing. It was a creative memories page, which for me was too structured, uncolourful and non-arty. It wasn't until I went to a craft fair and happened to step into a large scrapbooking store that a lot of possibilities opened themselves up to me.
It was just the right timing because my first child Emma was 6 months and things were starting to settle down around the house. I was looking for something to fill that creative void.
When I first stated to scrap, I had to have everything. (Sound familiar??) Now Im very selective about what I use on my pages. My main inspiration is colour, coming from an interior decoration background and I definitely have my favourites:
- Tinkering Ink, Scenic Route and anything bright and out there always grabs my attention. Hambly especially has a special place in my heart.
- A little bling, and definitely lots of rub ons. Its amazing how they can define a page.
- I love altering my photos in photoshop, altering the curves and saturation of light.
- Love the challenge of doing something different, of combining the eclectic while still being able to produce both pastel and bright layouts.
Its all about colour for me. I love vibrant, funky layouts that are full of energy and life. I want to feel alive when I look at my work and want my art to be reflective of who I am.
I loved doing this blue layout, the colours were so soothing and calm. The leaves were downloaded from the internet and traced onto fabric. I then cut them out and used the sewing machine (without cotton) to add the perforations to the leaves.
