My scrapspace has evolved from one end of our dining table to my very own room … ok not entirely my own room but its one I share with my children, which works perfectly as I'm not locked away from the family and am still able to have input (read: referee) in daily happenings. We are fortunate to have a home large enough to accommodate all my ‘bits’ and I am ever grateful for a husband who understands just how addictive and important this craft is to me. My computer is always on with Photoshop running in the background – I'm constantly wheeling from my desk to the computer and have to remember to warn unsuspecting children to watch their fingers and toes – no amputations yet but Im sure its just a matter of time. I prefer the open bookcase design when it comes to storage so everything is in plain view. My new toy is the Clip-it-up and I have no idea how I kept track of what I had in my stash until I got one of these little beauty’s!! One of my favourite things in my space is a Cropper Hopper Inspirational Wall transfer. I would have one in every room if I could – they are a tasteful and simple embellishment that becomes a great talking point.
I thrive on order and routine and my home is one of those painful ‘a place for everything and everything in its place’ houses - that is until you venture into my scraproom. Normally its clutter free and tidy unless Im scrapping then I tend to spread out. I pull my desk out to its full length and cover it with paper and product till Im scrapping on a tiny corner of spare space. Generally I know where everything is on my desk but will always spend a good amount of time searching for my ruler that’s normally right in front of me OR in my hand.
My home décor is quite modest with splashes of colour here and there. My favourite piece is our much loved “Sniffing Dogs” painting by Australian artist Helen Norton which has pride of place in our living room – I am totally drawn to the rich Pilbara/Kimberley colours that are representative of her work. I admit to having an obsession with coffee cups and the occasional pointless knick knack that tend to live in clusters of three or five throughout my home. While my home will never make the pages of BH&G its home and it makes me happy.
