weekend inspiration: jenni bowlin studios

 

 

Suz was fascinated by the lines and repeating patterns in different colours of the Soda Label line.  She created this layout celebrating the start of their summer holiday layering several of the papers over chipboard on both the bird and alphas in the title.  Scenic Route Paper travel rubons created the detail and reinforced the theme.

 

Chris combined papers, rub-ons and felt shapes all from the Jenni Bowlin range to put together this page of beach photos. She used the Scenic Route afterthoughts rub-ons to create the title.

 

What a cute idea for the JB felt birds! Chris has created this engagement card for her brother in law that recently announced his engagement. She has blanket stitched around the edge of the felt birds to match her cardstock.

 

 

 

When we look around the online world for wonderful examples of products, sometimes it's just silly not to go straight to the source.  Who better to give us inspiration with Jenni Bowlin products than Jenni Bowlin herself.  Here she created these two layouts with her Brown Transferware range of patterned papers, teaming them with turquoise for a stunning and original colour palette.  A big thank you to Jenni for allowing us to share them here.

 

Created for the Pencil Lines sketch blog, Yuko Motoyama has created this amazing layout from the Varsity range. We love the way Yuko has used the bookprint paper as her background and has combined Jenni Bowlin rub-ons and labels to make this layout very appealing.

 

Sharing their lovely work with us today is Katie Watson with this sweet layout using the Spring Picnic range and adding such a soft touch with the felt flowers.

 

    

And this adorable layout by Suzanne Brooksbank using the same range and felt flowers for an equally feminine layout. Thank you to both Katie and Suzanne for allowing their gorgeous work to inspire us today.

 

Last but not least Leslie Webster allowed us to share this stunning Jenni Bowlin project, cleverly creating a wonderful photo house out of the bingo cards.

Suz has always loved transparent element on her layouts, even long before the gorgeousness of Hambly's burst onto the scene.  Here she has stamped with her heidi swapp acrylic paints onto the new Tim Holtz Fragments.  She used different parts of the Hero Arts 'Bold Floral' stamp in different colours on the Fragments to reflect the paints her daughter was using. 

Hero Arts Basic Lowercase Letters were stamped with Olive Stazon for the journalling in the centre Fragment.  The gorgeous letters that form the title are We R Memory Keepers Precious Metals.

 

 

 

 

Chris also shows us how to use the stamps on a layout and in this case as a small title for her layout. She stamped the image onto the reverse side of the pattern paper then using a ruler and pencil created an arrow around the image. She then inked the edges to give the arrow some dimension.

 

 

 

Hero Arts make a really cute set of 4 flower stamps (Quatros Calico Blossoms) which have been used here on Mel's layout. They are fabulous to create borders around photos or to add in here and there on girly layouts. Dots Galore is the other stamp that Mel has used (circle with spots) in between each flower - another super sweet one by Hero Arts which is perfect for scrapbooking and card making alike.

 

 

A fabulous way to use your Hero Arts stamps is to stamp out the image onto a piece of cardstock, hand cut around the item and use pop dots to lift the stamp up a little from your page - as Rachel Greig has demonstrated here in her layout.

 

 

 

We'd also like to thank Rachel Greig so much for sharing this stunning layout with us - it certainly is a 'happy happy' scrapbook page! Rachel has also demonstrated a fabulous way to add a side border using Hero Arts alphabet stamps, oh and aren't those little toes super cute!!?

weekend inspiration: picture-it pageframes

i think we can safely say that picture-it's pageframes pretty much started the stampede toward the clear acrylic albums we're all loving at the moment.  The transparent factor make these projects both challenging and beautiful.  We hope you enjoy this stroll through some of what pageframes now has to offer.

   

 

Donna wanted to create something meaningful for a friend's birthday - an alternative to a birthday card that, let's face it, are usually thrown in the bin or hidden away in a box in the garage. This simple, but elegant Pageframe Designs Easel was the result.

Donna used a Jenni Bowlin diecut pp to trace and cut her SEI cardstock to a slightly less obvious shape. She then added a few simple pp's and embellishments to maintain the elegance and sentimentality of this gift. The easel's design makes it possible to create a fairly bumpy page without causing any warping or buckling of the page when displayed.

 

Caz has had a fabulous time working on this Pageframe Designs Clear 6x6 Album.  She decided to create an album of the end of year activities of her eldest daughter who was leaving year 6. Such a special and important time that it deserved an album of its own.

The first section is of the Mini Fete that the kids have to raise money for their farewell dinner and a gift for the school. The kids divide into groups and have to make, advertise and then sell their own merchandise during a day that is not only great fun for the whole school but an important learning activity for year 6.

The second section is of Darcy and her friends getting ready for the Farewell Dinner. They all looked so grownup in their dresses, new shoes and a touch of make-up. the night was held at the local club and the room was decked out just like a wedding. hey received graduation certificates from the principal and the parents joined in the last dance. A very special night for them all.

The third section which is yet to be completed will be of the last day of school. The whole school makes a farewell arch that Year 6 goes through as a way of saying goodbye. Lots of teary photos in this lot.

The beauty of the Pageframe album is that you can make it as lumpy as you like. Caz gathered together a big pile of her favourite products and just went to town. Heidi Swapp chipboard, Florals and Bling, heaps of the gorgeous Queen & Co Felt ribbon, silver Hambly rub-ons and lots of other little touches have gone together to make a keepsake that Darcy can treasure forever.

As you can see the pageframe album has tabbed pages which enable you to break up a special occasion whether it be a birthday, birth of a child etc etc into different sections. It would make a great present for someone special.

 

 

 

 

So many of our layouts are seen but once in a blue-moon. Let's face it, it takes a little effort to get the albums out especially when there are little grubby fingers clawing at them the minute they are out in the open. An idea like these PageFrame Designs clear frames allow our layouts to be displayed in full view, just as Kimber McGray has demonstrated in her beautiful example, 'A Dreamer'. We love the the warmth and serenity of Kimber's lovely work. Thanks for sharing Kimber.

 

 

This stunning piece of home decor comes to us from Betsy Veldman. Betsy has used her PageFrame to create a beautiful peice of art that will be treasured for many, many years to come.

 

 

We loved this idea by twopeas member Judi. Not only is this PageFrame beautiful, but functional as well. Judi has proven that it pays to think outside the box. This memo board, created in the style of a whiteboard, would be a useful addition to any home and may just capture the attention of those 'must-be-organised' men in our lives too!

 

This beautiful page-frame clear album by Gina Barone first caught Caz's eye as it was called "3 is the magic number" as Caz has 3 children as well and sometimes ponders what the 'magic' number actually is.
Gina has given each of her 3 children a double page to themselves and then has filled the rest of the album with loving photos of the children together.

The beauty of the clear albums is that the embellishments can be seen through the previous pages giving it incredible depth. The acrylic pages can be used exactly like traditional pages, they aren't too thick to have holes punched in them for brads, tying ribbon etc. Gina has decorated her album with some the following -Heidi Swapp-rub-ons, bling circles, chipboard letters, puffy sticker, ghost heart, star butterfly and clock, Hambly-rub-ons and Queen and Co. flowers.

design team challenge: 4 products 4 (or 5) ways

 

Another favourite amongst the design team and others - the 4 products, 4 ways challenge.  This month we invited the talented Alison Shearer to join in and just love what she's made of this combination.  The products were:

How gorgeous are these products! Simple tearing and layering of the paper and a corner cluster of chipboard products along with the We R Memory Keepers flocked rubons are all this LO needed. The BasicGrey chipboard alphas were spritzed with Glimmermist to add some shine. Jaimie also outlined the flocked We R Memory flourishes with black biro to make them pop from the page.

Tip: if the colours of your photo aren't quite a match to your product try a photo action like Perfect pastel to tone down photo colours.

 

 

 

 

  

Suz went for the browns and blues in these very versatile Deja Views range of patterned papers.  The soft patterns worked beautifully as a subtly patterned and textured background, keeping this very cute photograph the focal point.  She used both the foiling and the flocking from the We R Memory Keepers Rubons, and adding them to the ribbons (also We R Memory Keepers - White Out Explore) and the corrugated alphas from Deja Views created a very tactile range of textures.

 

 

 

 

 

We invited Alison Shearer to play in this 'four proudcts' challenge, and she came up with two gorgeous layouts, this one and 'the rocks'.  Alison writes: 'I love this photo of my daughter - reading and having her favourite drink  - peach iced tea!.

'The felt adhesive rub ons were so easy and so much fun to use plus great to touch too. I inked the cherryArte chipboard and BG mini monograms to match the tone of the papers - it's easy to alter these any way you like.'

 

 

 

The earthy, vintage look of these Sharon Ann papers was perfect for these photos of The Rocks - one of the most historical places in Australia.
The Cherry Arte chipboard was a snap to ink so it could be matched to the overall look of the Lo and the glitter adhesive rub ons added a bright, fun touch which lifted the Lo overall.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Carole Janson loved the both blues and reds in the patterned papers, and says that the We R Memory Keepers Foil Glitter and Flock Adhesive Rub On kit really made the colours stand out.

She shares some details about her layout:

For the Transparency Flower:

This was using the We R Memory Foil Glitter and Flock Rub on kit, I used acetate and the Red Flock from the kit, and what a great effect by just rubbing the sticky rub onto the acetate first, and then rubbing the flock over the top, really easy. I cut the acetate out and then used Foam mounting tape for added dimension.

For the Butterfly and Chipboard Tags:

This is the effect of the glitter and the flock from the We R Memory Keepers Foil Glitter Flock Rub ons, I put the flock flowers onto the cherryArte Chipboard labels and then I also used the glitter pack by again rubbing the butterfly sticky onto the acetate, and then rubbing the glitter pack over the top, again cut it out, bent up the wings and used Foam tape to mount it up onto the chipboard label. The blue glitter is really vibrant, and very pretty.

For the Title:

I painted the BasicGrey Mini Monograms (Undressed) with red paint, and then using the We R Memory Keepers Foil Glitter Flock rubbed the sticky star flowers onto the alphas and then I used the white flock, it really went onto the paint well, and I also used the glitter on the round cherryArte Chipboard label, in the title.

Here I applied the We R Memory Keepers Foil Glitter Flock onto the background of my layout, I picked the swirl sticky rub on, and then over the top I used the blue glitter, I also used it in the cross stitching, which was also a sticky rub on and then I used the white flock. This product really gives your layout dimension, and it is so easy to use.
