Donna Wild on Suz:
Donna 'went to town' scrapping Suz's style. What could be more fun than getting as much colour onto a page as is humanly possible?! When pinpointing those things that make Suz's layouts totally unique - of course Donna knew that a multitude of colours are vital, but equally too are the photos and and journalling. Donna has tried to incorporate each of those aspects using some of Suz's most used, colourful products; Tinkering Ink, Hambly Screen Prints and Heidi Swapp.
Nic Howard on Suz:
"I've always wanted to 'Scrap like Suz'. I find Suz's style elegant, beautiful and most important to me, timeless. When I was offered the chance to scrap a page to emulate Suz's style, I was more than thrilled at the opportunity. Brilliant use of space, soft colours, gorgeous accents, clever titles and fun journalling were what I wanted to achieve.
I admit it was harder than I had hoped. Suz has a knack of creating dreamy layouts that flow beautifully, yet she always has amazing colour or contrast in her layouts. I wanted to go that little step further and add this to my layout but every time I did, it looked less like Suz and more like me! I stopped short of doing this in the end, deciding that less was more in this case! It was an incredible amount of fun trying to scrap in someone else's style - I learnt a lot about my own style as I did so, here's hoping I did Suz's pics justice, as they are always beautiful as well"
Suz on Suz:
My scrapping style, if I had to define it, I guess is based far more on a preferred colour palette and repetition of the use of certain products than it is on any particular design principles. White backgrounds, mid-tone 'gelato' colour schemes - a bright happy colour palette. I try to infuse my layouts with light however I can, from over-exposing my photographs to avoiding blacks, dark colours and even creams wherever i can. Transparent laying has always fascinated me, so rarely will a page happen now without some Hambly, and even my preferred choice of journalling font - century gothic - is an airy open font.
Suz on Nic and Donna
You know, my first reaction when I saw both of their pages was just to be flattered. I'm flattered that they think i could conceive such beautiful pages as the ones they have produced. Donna's combined my love of bright colours, Tinkering Ink and Hambly, glitter, bling - the page is a veritable confection of delight and I love it. Nic has captured the white openness that I love, the translucence of her page just glows and flows. They both picked up on the Century Gothic thing - where in fact on my layout this time i was lazy and handwrote my journalling. They've both found the Hambly, the bling and the light I love, and yet their own styles come through too. Thanks so much girls - such a fun exercise.
