This week we check out Chris Millar's style, and if she was in any doubt beforehand that she might not have had one, we think the similarities in these layouts will put paid to that. Though our design team used different patterned paper ranges and colours, there's no mistaking the similar depth of colour in them all, nor the repeated elements such as circles and lines that's such trademark Chris.
Chris by Nic Howard:
When I took on the challenge to scrap in Chris' style, I had visions of bright colours and bold geometric shapes. Chris has always stood out to me as a scrapper that can include a variety of striking elements within her layout. Those bright colours paired with layers and artistic touches such as doodling and other handmade embellishments was what I was aiming for.
Chris' photo was lovely and I wanted to make the most of the beautiful green in Shayla's eyes the result was a layout that perhaps had a bolder colour scheme than I was used to! I might not quite emulate the true Chris Millar style but I had a lot of fun trying!
Chris by Jaimie:
I have always loved Chris' use of bold colours and design, always creating eye-catching projects using serious brights and strong patterned paper with effortless ease. As this is not something I'm totally comfortable with I wanted to scraplift her work to bring me out of my comfort zone.
While I'm not sure I 'nailed' Chris' incredible style I certainly did my best but on looking at the completed project I see that I have kept a little too much 'white open space' and certainly wasn't daring enough to tackle her trademark style of being able to mix together strong patterned papers. I especially admire the way Chris is able to perfectly place those little finishing touches on her projects that enable you to discover something 'new' each time you look at her work, simple embellishments, sewing, handstitched elements all combining to create her truly distinctive style.

I've been wanting to use the Scenic Route Loveland Collection for some time now and this challenge was the perfect excuse to give the collection a whirl. These colours and designs are very much my kinda style. I love pretty, I love girly and I love putting together a gorgeous, feminine layout using a picture of one of my girls. The CherryArte chipboard pieces are a favourite and always add a touch of elegance to a layout.
The felt butterflies bring a lovely softness to the layout and my new fave product is the WRMK foil, flock and glitter rub-ons, they make a wonderful addition to any layout.
the last word: Chris on Nic and Jaimie:
It's fun to hear how others describe my style and the girls have got me pretty spot on with their descriptions of my style. I do love to use brights! I think both of the girls did such a fabulous job of scrapping my style and that is evident when you place them side by side and can see the very similar design elements of the circle to one side of the photo and the scalloped edge of patterned paper.
I can also see a touch of both Jaimie's and Nic's own style in the layouts as well, which is bound to happen as I think the three of us have elements of our style that overlap anyway. I totally love the layout that both Nic and Jaimie have created as does Shayla! Thanks girls!
