Caz wasn't too sure what 'shabby chic' actually meant so had to wing it slightly when creating this layout about the hopes and dreams that she has for her 3 children. She used the BasicGrey Perhaps range as the lovely soft colours and floral prints seemed to lend themselves to being shabby chic.
As Caz had alot to say about each child and didn't necessarily want everyone to read her thoughts she decided to use one of the BasicGrey Matchbook kits to contain the journaling. She modified it slightly so that it sat flatter on the page and only had as many pages as she needed. These are a great way to incorporate not only journaling but also extra photos onto your layouts.
Caz scrunched and sanded some of the paper on her layout. She also sanded around each of the photo frames and the matchbook slightly. The layered flowers were made from more of the Perhaps paper, lace flowers, buttons and thread. Maybe it's not strictly 'shabby chic' but she was happy with the way that it turned out and the fact that she got her Hopes and Dreams down in print for her kids to discover one day.
Hinged sections on LO's have been used time and time again to keep personal journaling and thoughts private. There are so many variations of this design that you are only limited by your imagination. On this page Jaimie kept her journaling private by creating a hinged section underneath the 3 photo collage of her daughter. To make the hidden section less noticable Jaimie used paper to create a hinge as an alternative to using the more noticeable metal or grungeboard hinges.
By sanding, distressing and inking the BG Sugared paper, a vintage shabby chic look was easily achieved.
Hopes and Dreams pages don't necessarily have to be full of emotional sentiment - they can be made fun and humorous like Jaimie's page about the hope she has that her teenage son will allow her to take normal photos of him again!
Jaimie used BG Boxer papers and brads and teamed them with SR stickers for this LO. Want to keep your page clean and simple but also want to add journaling as well - the solution - HIDE it! Jaimie created a flap under her title for hidden journaling about her sons teenage habit of clowning around when the camera comes out. A simple and easy solution!
And now - over to you. Some amazing and wonderful inspiration here - thank you all for participating.
