Here's a beautiful little idea that's not just memorable and decorative - it's also fast! Suz has breathed new life into six Deluxe Designs slide mounts (remember them!?) to create a little box by backing each of them with a single sheet of patterned paper and them up. She has filled the window in with her favourite Hambly transparencies, and printed simple 1x1" photographs of last christmas in two strips (though she realised later than you could probably go up to 1.5" for slightly bigger photos). She then stuck the two strips back to back so they are double sided, and folded them up inside her slide mount box.
The top of the box is finished off simply with a Tim Holtz Charm Fragment and some folded SEI ribbon. Suz plans to make more of these - one for each Christmas since her children came along. Right now she's not sure whether to turn them into a cute cube display for a shelf, or alternatively the finished box is no bigger than a christmas bauble - which means they would be small enough and pretty enough to hang on your christmas tree.
Suz's mother has a worn and faded notebook of recipes - handwritten by her grandmother and even her great grandmother - many of them wonderful old traditional christmas dishes. It's a treasured possession that no longer withstands the wear and tear of being out on the kitchen bench when actually cooking the recipes, and as Suz's brother lives in the UK he doesn't have access to the Notebook. So, when she came across this Photo Wallet from the SEI Preservation Series, she knew exactly what to do with it. She's in the process of replicating the recipes, adding photographs of the dishes where she has them, as well as scans of the original handwritten recipes to make it more meaningful.
The simple cover is made from Deja Views 'Home for the Holidays' patterned papers, the obligatory Hambly transparencies, and a touch of glitter and bling.
Caz decided to use the Basic Grey Wassail Card Kit as the basis for some pages in the album she is creating for Christmas 2007. Instead of mounting all the elements on a card she arranged them on an 8x8 chipboard page covered with Basic Grey Wassail paper and added in a few more rub-ons and chipboard from the rest of the Wassail range.
By grouping her photos for each Christmas occasion in blocks of 9 she is able to get 45 photos onto just 5 pages. None of the photos are special enough to warrant a whole page but each of them will hold a special Christmas memory for years to come. Caz is going to get her children to dictate the journaling which she will mount on the top and bottom of the photos in strip form. This way it is their memories that are captured and not just her own.
Here's what Chris had to say about creating this mini album. "If you're often put off creating mini albums because of the time involved in then I've got the solution for you! This absolutely adorable 3x3 raw mini album from We R Memory Keepers took me less than 2 hours to create. I wanted to create a brag book for my Mum for Christmas containing some of layouts I've created throughout the year. I printed the layouts out to measure approximately 3x3 on my home printer and then popped them
straight into the page protectors that come with this mini album - too easy! Then it was just a matter of jazzing up the raw cover of the album. I've used the Scenice Route Roxbury range of fabulous Christmas colours, added one of the gorgeous Heidi Swapp glitter flowers and a couple of Hero Arts buttons. I've tied the album together with Heidi Swapp white tulle ribbon. Inside I've attached a little gift tag that I stamped using the Sassafras Lass Holiday Bliss stamp.
Now that you've seen how easy this mini album is to create there's no excuse not to whip up a couple to give as gifts this Christmas!"
Carole says that this was why she started scrapping in the first place - all the gorgeous and cute embellishments! Here she has used a Basic Grey Half Pint Chipboard Book that she has cut into different sizes to shape her Christmas Album. Carole then embellished the album with the gorgeous and very cute We R Memory Keepers Christmas Punch outs on which she used pop dots and foam tape to create depth in the album. She also incorporated the beautiful Little Yellow Bicycle Christmas Magic papers and Journaling stickers, which suited perfectly.
Carole created this album as a present to someone very special, and we have no doubt they will love it. So under the tree it goes!!
