Janine fell in love with a BasicGrey rubon of a single flower and wanted to use it on a layout, so she enlarged it on the photocopier multiple times until it reached the size she wanted. Then she roughly cut around the pieces before applying spray adhesive to the template and sticking it onto the reverse side of the patterned paper she was using, before carefully hand-cutting out the elements and paper piecing them back together on the page.
Janine kept everything else on the page to a minimum so that the focus remains on the flower. She also used the idea of a touch of bling around the flower tips, just as the BasicGrey rubons had that were her inspiration. Janine loves the effect of an artful flower in masculine colours on a boy LO, so don’t be afraid to try it sometimes.
The Everafter collection by Cosmo Cricket was just beautiful for this project of Carole's. Carole cut out a heart for the background of her layout, and then for the bottom of the heart she folded pattern paper, and added some stitching.
To create the single flower Carole cut a strip of white cardstock, and then vertically cut into the length of the strip. Carole used her fingers to fan out the strip of white cardstock where she had cut into, glued along the bottom of the strip, and then rolled the strip, which became the middle of the flower, Carole then created the second part to the flower by cutting a thicker strip, in the vanilla cardstock in the same way as the first strip and rolled it around the White cardstock.
To create the curls in the flower, Carole randomly picked each strip, and using a skewer curled one strip back and one strip forward, and then she added the leaves, and also the Cosmo Everafter Chipboard stickers, and finished off with some small embellishments.
