Steph has noticed so many vintage wares being designed and produced for all the major manufacturers within the Scrapbook Industry. Fashion, Color and Décor seems to go in circles and vintage is very much in vouge at the moment. Vintage can be anything from yesteryear, tactile and interesting finds from years gone by.
In this layout, there are quite a few Vintage elements are used. I loved the cute little vintage bird from 7 Gypsies, and the fabric doiley from SEI gave a certain charm to the embellishment cluster I had created. Vintage looking laces can add an elegant and gentle touch to border layouts. In “Stay True” there are a few examples of just how laces are such a hot vintage trend at the moment, from Hambly Transparencies to Webster’s Pages Retro Style green lace.
Vintage Fabric is also making a re-emergence, and Webster’s Pages have introduced us to Bloomers, beautiful vintage blooms, made from fabric and ready to stick on your page. I used them here and you can see how soft and beautiful they are on a layout.
Vintage 50’s nostalgia is all the rage and brings warm feelings to heart. 50’s style typewriters, sewing machines and cameras are on stamps, stickers and all types of patterned paper. Scrapbooking manufacturer, October Afternoon, has bought out a fantastic vintage/retro line which represents this era perfectly.
You can see the old pink typewriter and old camera. They look wonderful together on a layout. Bingo tickets and paper doileys also are true indicators of the vintage style. You can even see 50’s vintage fashion on the retro ladies, and this gives the layout a certain charm, on top of the gorgeous sewing pattern paper.
Behind the photo is typewriter font, which can also be seen in various forms on products everywhere. This kitschy vintage fonts makes a charming background for the photograph.
This layout by the very talented Leanne Pearce, shows just how you can take a modern slant on vintage wares. Leanne has made the background out of old sewing patterns made of tissue paper and used mod podge to adhere them to her base. She has used an old doiley and cut a dress form from denim. Everything on this gorgeous layout has a real vintage feel to it, even the handmade buttons, with beautiful old vintage music sheets add to the overall beauty of this project.
