Louise has only recently discovered the joys of scouring through the preloved treasures of the local Hospice shop. In her latest trip she found a wonderful old book and a cute little barometer that she's converted into an intricate, vintage themed memorabilia box. By cutting out the centre pages and gluing with layers of mod podge, she was able to create a cavity that was then lined with some Basic Grey Curio paper.
The book itself was painted with a single coat of gesso, before another layer of gesso was applied through a stencil to create a soft, damask-like texture. The barometer centre was removed and the detailed surround was given a coat of gesso, slightly aged with distressing inks and then hot glued into place on the front. A photo chip from Darkroom Door was attached into the centre and covered with a resin dome, adhered with dimensional magic.
Some gorgeous Prima flowers, crystals, ornate feet from Tim Holtz, miscellaneous haberdashery and a large scissor charm finish the look, along with some Prima laces attached along the edges to pretty it up. This beautiful little box could be used to hide a secret journal or hold jewellery, postcards or other little treasures.
