new years resolutions: suzanne

 

 

Sue's New Year's Resolution is to 'choose joy'. It's a phrase that means a lot to Sue and whenever she finds herself in a difficult situation, she needs to remind herself to 'choose joy', instead of dwelling on things she can't change or that simply don't matter. Sue is determined to remember the important things and forget about the others. Sue used the gorgeous Farmhouse range from Crate Paper to create her page.

She wanted to keep her journaling hidden so has made a little pocket that is tied with twine.

year in review: suz

 

 

Clearly the most time consuming part of this layout was collating all the photos, because when you want this many photos in a double page spread, you really need to keep the rest of the page simple! 

Suz chose a couple of her favourite photos from each month of last year to create this photo gallery style page, and used small elements from the Simple Stories ‘Year-o-graphy’ collection, BasicGrey Indie Bloom Brads and Prima alphas to tie them together.  She loves it as just a lovely, simple overview of the year that was.

christmas reflections: georgia

 

Georgia’s eldest daughter Lucy has always loved Christmas but this year seemed to be even more into the Christmas spirit than usual.  The little things became all important which lead to many photos of small details.  This close up of Lucy hanging an ornament on the tree is one example and the one Georgia chose to capture the story of Lucy’s fascination with all things Christmas.  As there are no faces in the photo Georgia knew she needed to keep the page quite simple to stop her image getting lost.  Echo Park’s Season’s Greetings was the perfect range for the job – lots of bright, layered embellishments which jump of the page, meaning Georgia could create a dramatic look with only a handful of pieces. The end result is a simple yet stunning layout which highlights the photo and tells the story wonderfully.

weekend inspiration: zva creations

 

While Zva Creative are known for their stunning crystal swirls, Danielle challenged herself to create a boy-themed page with a range of Zva products. This wasn't actually difficult at all, with the corduroy fabric brads and green leaves from Zva creating a gorgeous, organic feel to the page. Crystals were used to enhance the page, but Danielle chose these cute tree designs that were still suited to the masculine / nature themed page.

 

For this layout Georgia chose to use the more subtle Zva rosebuds and soft pearls to add dimension and pop but still keeping her signature clean style. Georgia has created a bouquet of rosebuds in various colours and scattered individual buds around the page. By punching small holes in the page and poking the wire stems through to the back of the card stock Georgia has managed to affix the buds securely yet still let them lift off the page.

 

This beautiful project by Maiko Miwa features gorgeous Zva Creative flower embellishments, leaves and pearl flourishes.

weekend inspiration: sassafras

 

Leeann adores everything about sassafras. Mostly it’s the tiny details that catch her attention, especially the hand and machine stitching. Leeann has used a few papers from the mix and mend collection, she really loved the printed lace on the bright yellow canvas paper and started here by creating a chevron pattern and then built her layers creating a layer framed photo matt.

The mix and mend element stickers have all the details that Leeann so loves. Leeann also found this bunny from an older collection and just had to finish this page off with a bit of cuteness!

 

 

Danielle has created a cascade of foldies across this layout about her daughter. The Starters papers make a simple, effective background which has been enhanced with some 'stitchery' stamps from the Sassafras range. Entwined blooms complement the foldies beautifully, and glitter alphas add a sweet, sparkly touch to the extra long title!

 

 

Diana Fisher has used the Indie Girl range from Sassafras in this fun and clean-lined page!

 

 

Tessa Buys created this gorgeous page with Sassafras borders, Indie Girl journaling spots and alphabet stickers!

 

Another gorgeous page from Tessa, this time using the Sunshine Broadcast range from Sassafras.

 

Neija Zeugme uses Sunshine Broadcast in this beautiful page that she has created. We love how the vast negative space allows both the papers, the photograph and all the small details to shine on this page.

 

This amazing page was created by Natalie Elphinstone. You can see where Natalie has taken full advanced of the hand and machine stitching and has place her title and journaling there. Natalie finished this page off by matting it against some green cardstock which definitely added that punch to make this funky page POP!

Here we have another awesome page by Natalie. Once again the details of the stitching are already done, leaving you to just add a few little embellishments here and there. Natalie certainly knows how to take full advanced of this collection. Thank you so much Natalie for letting us share some of your funky pages.

new years resolutions: georgia

 

 

2012 will be the first year in 9 years stay at home Mum Georgia will not have a little one home during the day, so when we asked Georgia to do a page about her new year’s resolutions for 2012 she sat down to think and realised not only did she not have any, she had no idea where to even start!

Georgia initially chose to use Webster’s Pages All About Me simply because of the title, but when she looked closer she fell in love with the colours and the huge range of embellishments. Georgia can never resist navy and so chose the pale blue background to allow the navy bloomers and silhouette to stand out.  By choosing a black and white photo, Georgia was able to add splashes of red and lime green to add even more pop.

year in review: iris

While other people make year-end albums and pages, Iris makes it easier on herself by making one in advance. Here is a sample of how you can prepare for the coming year's events and photos.

This portfolio album from Pink Paislee comes with transparent sheets in different sizes. You can simply add scraps of papers from coordinating lines to come up with a simple design.

Once you have your photos, all you need to do is insert it in the slots and you are done.

christmas reflections: kim

 

 

The stickers and layered chipboard elements have been used to great effect by Kim to create a cute little Christmas scene, which balances the journalling and photo on the left of the layout perfectly. The fun Holly Jolly range is great to use for kids Christmas layouts. Don't forget to record the not so good stories, like Kim has done, when you are working on your layouts!

weekend inspiration: webster’s pages

 

Iris has been creating with Webster's pages for several years now and she loves how versatile their papers are. The line used for this page is "Botanical Christmas" but it still works well for a non holiday themed photo.

 

 

For this page, Danielle combined Websters Pages' All About Me range of papers and alphabet stickers with the trims from their Western Romance range. Patterned papers are cut into strips to create an alternative background, and one corner has been folded over the matted photo to show an additional pattern. Danielle's page title on this layout about her parents started off brief, in theory, but then became one long sentence using all the different sizes on Websters Pages alphabet sticker sheet!

 

 

Emma Trout, a design team member for Webster's pages is from the UK where she lives with her husband and two teenage boys. 'Fun' is a layout about her featuring the "Western Romance" papers. She has a childish, fun side to her personality and she used the beautiful designs in this collection to express just that. The quote strip says " Growing older is no excuse for growing up!"

 

 

'This second layout from Emma "House Believes" features the gorgeous designs of the 'Botanical Christmas' collection. She wanted to pick out the non-traditional colours in the collection and layer them together to create a whimsical page. She also used lots of Webster's Pages trims on this page. Thank you Emma for sharing with our readers your beautiful creations!

 

 

Gerry Van Gent is another designer for Webster's Pages and is based in Netherlands. We just love how she effectively uses the papers from Webster's which may be looked upon as girly and frilly at first but actually still works well for photos of her little charming boy.

 

Here is another stunning example of how Gerry uses Webster's Pages papers for a boy page. Just adorable!! Thank you Gerry for the inspiration!

 

 

Finally, Deborah created this mixed media piece using a lot of Websters Pages papers, some stamping and gorgeous paint techniques.

weekend inspiration: basicgrey

 

Iris Uy combines papers, die-cuts, rub-ons, and stamps from BasicGrey's Picadilly to come up with this fun colorful page about her daughter's trip to the country side.

 

 

 

The Out of Print range is full of collage type papers and collage type accents and this really appeals to Leeann, so she got a little artsy with this range.   Leeann built a few layers with the papers and self adhesive lace and then embellished the photo with a large circle frame cut from the Out of Print papers. 

Leeann clustered a punched out sewn banner at the bottom of the photo and added more layers using Basic Grey embellishments. She then finished this page of with splashing some ink and using one of the designer rub-ons, some punched out clouds and machine stitched for added detail.

 

 

 

Pamela Young shares two beautifully stunning pages with us who also happens to be one of Basic Greys design team members. This first one Pamela has used the Piccadilly collection and has cut the papers into hexagon shapes and layered them out in a patch work style. The hand cut scrunch leaves are a great embellishment for finishing this page off.

 

 

On this layout Pamela has used the Indi Bloom collection. Pamela has also used some die-cut plates on the pattern papers. I love how the dies cut plate have given the edges an embossed finish. Beautiful coordinate and layered matts for her photos. Along with a great design and a small cluster of fabric yo yo’s and felt blooms. Thanks so much to Pamela for letting us share some of her wonderful creations

 

Marinette Lesne from France creates beautiful happy pages with BasicGrey. As a design team member for BasicGrey, she effectively uses the stunning colors and patterns of BasicGrey papers for her usual scrapping style which according to her is happy and colorful. Marinette loves to stamp on her projects as well as use school eyelets! You will always see school eyelets on her projects ( those little white circles). Thank you so much Marinette for this fun and happy page!

 

 

LG Belarmino is a scrapper from the Philippines with a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts Major in Advertising Design. She went into scrapbooking to preserve her family's memories, to express her creative side and to get to know a lot of amazing people worldwide.

In this layout, she used one of BasicGrey's recent collections “Little Black Dress”. According to LG, the patterns and colors of this line are very classy and works perfectly with black and white photos.

new years resolutions: louise williams

 

 

Louise W doesn't normally like to make resolutions but this one was one she knows she will keep. After a crazily busy year and too much working, she's resolving to spend more time just playing with her boys and being with her family. She chose to hide her journaling on a shipping tag and tuck it in behind the flower cluster so the layout still had a lot of white space to balance it.

By using a mix of My Minds Eye and Prima products, she has created a festive layout without using the traditional Christmas colours of red and green, but ties in the common New Years tones of gold, black and white.

year in review: leeann

 

 

Leeann really enjoyed creating this page; it was the perfect opportunity to reflect on the events that have taken place through out the year. Some of which Leeann still has to scrap. Leeann decide to use a heap of photos but instead of highlighting them all she threaded them all on some twine and randomly bunched them up and placed like so.

She added a few sentiments from some of the events that had taken place for future scrapping reference. Leeann has used a mixture of paper and embellishments from little yellow bicycle, the fall collection.

Suz Doyle wanted a double page spread full of photos of her Christmas Day and created this by printing them all on two A4 sheets.  This meant that embellishment needed to be minimal, so she created a simple garland along the bottom of her photos.  This gave her room for playing in a limited area, and so she added gorgeous chip stickers and embellies from the October Afternoon range, Tim Holtz facets backed with the co-ordinating papers and bits of trima nd lace, mostly from Websters.  She added different coloured glitters to outline the embellishments which help them echo the spirit of christmas baubles or decorations.
