Chris shares her craft space with the home office used for the family business.

 

 

 

Chris uses these small clear containers to store the cards she creates.  She made dividers to create categories for her cards.

 

 

 

Chris says this is her favourite storage in her craft room.  The Clip-It-Up base unit and upper tier are the perfect solution for storing and displaying rub-ons, stickers and ribbon cards.  It's so quick and easy to find what your looking for when it's stored in this way.

 

 

Chris keeps all her pattern papers and cardstock in the Cropper Hopper divided storage folders.  She says she has them in this trolley under her desk for quick access.

Iris converted a corner of their bedroom into her work area. Because her work space is part of their bedroom she has to make sure that it is always a clean and safe space even for her kids. Anything sharp or toxic is kept in boxes far beyond the reach of her children. Paints and most mediums are kept in the plastic drawer shelves behind her work table to keep clutter and mess to a minimum.

The large cabinet holds her papers and tools, the vertical wooden shelves holds her dies. The metal drawers holds her embellishment, punchers, and stamps.

 

The red table runner is actually an organizer which holds her brushes, palette knives, brayers, etc. Iris' rule of thumb... if it's something she uses all the time, it has to be within reach at all times.

 

 

This foam blending tool carousel from Ranger is one of Iris' best buys. Saves her time from changing the foam pads every time she uses her distress inks... which is ALL THE TIME!

If you take a look at the small organizer at the back of her art journal page, you will see that it has small drawers which holds left over alphabets. This makes it easy for her to utilize all of her alphas by mixing random styles of letters for her titles.

 

Office desk organizers find a home in Iris' space and is used as storage for her wooden stamps and as a place for her pens, pencils, mediums, etc.

 

This vintage looking case here is actually a make-up train case. Used by make-up artists...but is a perfect storage solution for Iris - whether working at her space, teaching a class, or crafting with friends. Look at the next picture and see why.

 

This make-up train case opens up to reveal lots of shelves that is perfect for her favorite mediums like pigment powders, glitters, glazes, etc. The bottom part is also deep enough to hold gel mediums, mists, paint bottles, etc

 

Metal drawers from Ikea are perfect for holding varied embellishments and small paper pads. even masks and stencils of Iris lie happily within these shelves.

 

To save on space and to have better view of all the stamps she has accumulated over the years, Iris took out the stamps from their packaging and arranged them in transparent folders. This system saves her space and also provides a quick and easy way to take out stamps and return them in their storage space after use.

 

Another set of drawers this time for Iris' punches. As long as Iris has a specific area for certain things then sorting and choosing stuff for use in her projects are always easy. Iris also goes through her stash regularly. She decides which items she will no longer use and gives them away to her kids and her friends. This way, she is always sure that whenever she goes through her stuff she will only find items that she will actually be working with. That alone saves a lot of time.

Janine's scrap area is in her bedroom.  As she has a bay window in a long room she has taken over one end with all her supplies.  Due to such space limitations, her storage all goes upwards!

 

Her Ikea shelf contains boxes with punches, dies, chipboard, stamps, fabric glimmermists and on top of it her papers in vertical storage.

 

The big white baskets on top of her dresser contain alphabet stickers and mini albums, some complete, some still needing to be started!

 

Even her dresser drawer has been taken over with scrap supplies!

Shoe boxes have been converted to storage containers for glimmer mist! She is lucky her husband takes a size 15 shoe and the boxes from his shoes are HUGE!

 

All her printed papers are stored in Cropper Hopper’s brilliant vertical storage.  She recently went through her stash and reduced it by half just so she could fit it all in.

 

Janine recycled some of her Prima tins and labelled them for storage.

 

Janine got her husband  to help her make the white bookcase style shelf. She had one made and decided she needed a second!

 

Recycling old Heidi Swapp jars for some of her flowers.

 

A4 draws from Big W make a great place for storing Prima SIIC, stamps inks and felts.

 

Janine has used these hardware drawers from Big W for her flowers.  She keeps them in ranges rather than just colours as she often has to scrap with certain ranges and it makes it easy to keep it sorted.

 

Ribbons and laces are colour sorted in plastic jars.

 

Punches and Prima Alpha Stickers are kept in tubs under her desk.

Kim's scrapping space is in her home office which she also uses for her day job. Kim uses Ikea Billy bookcases as the foundation of her storage space and an old cut down dining room table to scrap on. She stores her papers in Cropper Hopper 12x12 paper holders and embellishments on a Clip-it-up and in a variety of baskets. When things get out of control (which is regularly), she is known to use the floor and cardboard boxes ;o) .... but there are no photos of that!

We thought we’d take a break from the daily grind and show off some of our design teams workspaces.  We hope that you might be inspired by them and find some useful storage and display tips.

 

 

Hello and welcome to Miss Wally's place. Come in and take a look around. Leeann and family made a tree change in August 2010. Leeann is a very lucky lady to have a creative space in her brand new home. You will notice that Leeann is a bit of a neat freak and things do have their place.

 

Leeann was a lucky duck to score this cabinet from a friend who moved. It makes a great storage unit and displaying unit at the same time. Leeann totally loves the pattern paper racks and wouldn't have it any other way.

 

 

Her work station is a large L shape. There are also file draws built in so there's plenty of work space and plenty of stations for all sorts of creativeness.

 

At the moment Leeann is using this space for all her scrapping. But she would prefer to stand. She is waiting on her island work bench to arrive. As you can see all supplies are in arm's reach!

Leeann has built in shelves to the ceiling. That is one of the best things in this room as this gives Leeann space and also a place to stash all those creations along with all those lolly jars filled with embellishments! Leeann also stores some of her mediums up here so that the kids can't touch. All other mediums and paints are kept in the file draws under the bench!

 

 

Leeann re-vamped this rusty old muffin tray. She gave it a light sand all over then used a matt spray paint and just filled each muffin ring with assorted buttons.

 

 

Leeann loves having her embellishment where she can see them. Leeann had a heap of old canvas frames and decide to revamp them. With the help of her DH Leeann took charge of the power tools. Measuring Cutting Sanding Painting and Nailing. Now all Leeann has to do is reach up and grab her favorite embellishments to finish of her creations.

 

As you can see here Leeann has used old food tins and has covered the outside with pattern papers. The inside has been cleaned and then sealed with a clear sealer. She has all her tags.stickers and banners etc stored in a 7 gypsies wooden draw. Leeann also loves glass bowls and finds these at the thrift stores all the time. They are her embellishment bowls at her finger tips.

weekend inspiration: jillibean soup

 

 

Louise N ask's, what is there 'not to love' about a fully co-ordinated paper range from Jillibean Soup?!!! Louise has created two very simple layouts from the paper pad from the Neopolitan Bean Bisque range, but there is so much product in this pad that so many more could be created.

 

How cute is this idea from Jane Clarke?  Shecut out one of the jars in the patterned paper from the Jillibean Lime Soup collection and backed it with acetate, she then punched out some Martha Stewart 3 in 1 butterflies and placed them inside the jar. A stitched border was sewn around the edge and a tiny tag from the die-cut sheet added.

 

Jane just loved the bright designs of the Jillibean Soup Coconut Lime Soup collection, the die-cuts and journaling panels made creating a breeze!

 

 

 

We found this super double by Summer Fullerton on the Jillibean Soup blog using the gorgeous Southern Chicken Dumpling Soup range.  We love how she has backed the soft happy colours on plain brown cardstock for contrast.

 

And this is a stunning example of the use of the Neopolitan Bean Bisque range, by Teka Cochonneau.  We love all the pops of colour in the accents on this gorgeous page.

weekend inspiration: echo park papers

 

 

Iris Uy shows how easy it is to combine new and previously released lines from Echo Park in one layout. This page showcases papers from the new "This and That: Graceful" collection and the "Yours Truly" collection. Echo Park continually delights paper crafters with their fresh designs while still maintaining the classic look of patterned papers. This makes mixing and matching of different lines easy.

 

Danielle enjoyed combining elements from different Echo Park ranges when creating this layout. This & That Graceful paper and cardstock stickers form the bulk of the design, with the timber-style paper from This & That Charming as well as highlights from the Style Essentials range. This convinced Danielle of the versatility of the ranges and she particularly liked the way that the Style Essentials papers lend themselves to enhance all sorts of other ranges.

 

Here Danielle Flanders has used Echo Park's Wintertime collection to create this adorable layout. She has a tutorial on how to replicate her design here.

 

These two pages above have been created by Jean (aka Stripey Fish on flickr) using a range of Echo Park products. The first layout features the new This & That Charming range, while the next page highlights "Splash" and "Summer Days" paper designs. Both layouts use template from simplescrapper.com.

 

 

Angela Lauchengco effectively uses the bright bold patterns of Echo Park's "Summer Days" paper in this fun layout about being silly every now and then. She utilizes the classic linear and blocking technique while adding fun clusters of embellishments. Angela is a design team member of Valerie Salmon's Got Sketch? blog. You can see more of her work here.  She also dabbles in photography and is a certified scrapaholic!

 

Monika Wright of iloveitallwithmonikawright.com here shares a gorgeous project, an upcycled perpetual calendar which has been decorated with Echo Park's Summertime collection.

Leeann couldn’t wait to get scrapping with this line 100 days of summer by simple stories. What Leeann loved the most was all the diecut papers and borders. Leeann took her inspiration from these papers. She wanted to showcase them as well as photos. First Leeann made her own negative from a trimmed sheet of white cardstock gave it a light mist. Layered it onto the pattern paper and started to arrange the die cuts and stickers. Once happy adhere all the die cuts and photos under the negative, added some machine stitching for extra detail.

Leeann also added machine and hand stitching to the negative and then adhere the negative in place using 3D foam for dimension. Leeann finished the page off by layering stickers and punched shapes from the papers.

 

The Baby Steps range from Simple Stories co-ordinated perfectly with the sweet photo of Louise W's youngest son. She created her own embellishments by fussy cutting the hot air balloons out of the paper and adding some thread to attach it to the fussy cut heading, to give it the appearance of flying. Some Prima flowers and diecut scrolls finish the look and add softness and movement to the page.

 

 

Tina Walker shares a couple of pages with us using a couple of lines from simple stories. She has used the life documented line here and we love how she has layered all the die cut cuts and borders lengths. Teaming it with a fabulous photo from the past!

 

 

We also love this page that Tina walker created using the Destination line by Simple Stories. Thank you so much Tina for letting us share some of your creations.

 

This fabulous sign was created by Kim Holmes and uses the new Aweso{me} range from Simple Stories to create a warm, yet masculine look. The large type, subtle inking and layering make it very clear it's no girls allowed! You can see more of Kim's work on her blog.

 

The vintage spools and trinkets used by Laura L. Weber on this beautifully altered clipboard, co-ordinate perfectly with the Simple Stories Life Documented range of papers. Louise W adored the dimension and vintagy details that added the sweet finishing touches to this masterpiece.

 

Finally We loved this set of cards created by the talented Natalie Dever using the Simple Stories Happy Day collection. With bright colours and touches of fibre, these cards are full of depth, dimension and fun!

weekend inspiration: authentique

 

Suz Doyle used the stunning Authentique ‘Splendid’ range to create this page which documents the beginning of her daughter’s journey to learn about and work with her potential dyslexia or learning difficulty.  Suz has printed out emails between herself and teachers and created a pocket to put them in.  The contrast between the straight colour blocks and the bright, seemingly random Prima bling seemed to represent to her the difference in learning styles that her daughter may need.

 

 

Louise W adores the modern vintage look and warm colours of the Authentique 'Gathering' range. As with most of the Authentique papers, they're printed on a heavy, slightly textured card weight so make it perfect for fussy cutting and lifting with popdots to add dimension without sagging.

By combining some Prima flowers with a trinket and some bakers twine, she's created a co-ordinated cluster of embellishments that draw the eye to the small cardstock diecut headings, keeping the page clean, simple yet also highly detailed.

 

 

Jane Clarke used the 6x6in Authentique Genuine paper pad to create these two cards.  In this card she fussy cut around the zigzag pattern of one paper and added it at the bottom so it would be more prominent. Leaves were also cut from another paper and added on top for eyecatching dimension then a Prima resin birdbath and bird were added to complete the card.

Jane absolutely loved the worn denim patterned papers in the Authentique Genuine 6x6in pad, she covered the front of her cards with the star pattern then added a punched strip of another, a floral panel, trims and a word from the Authentique Genuine elements sticker sheet.

 

 

Louise W loved this beautiful layout by the talented Elizabeth Carney who has utilised the Authentique Genuine range to create a light, feminine page from what would normally be considered masculine colours.

 

 

The very talented Irene Tan has created this beautiful page with the 'Gathering' range of papers. By fussy cutting flowers and using them to frame both the photo and the gorgeous little haberdashery cluster, she's managed to draw the eye across the layout to the journaling with pops of colour and intricate detailing.

 

The very girly 'Uncommon' range has been put to beautiful use in this gorgeous layout from Misty Buck. Subtle layering with cute journalling banners and handmade flowers add a delightful touch to an otherwise simple gridded design.

 

 

The talented Tracee Provis puts the Authentique 'Genuine' range through it's paces in a series of fantastic creations. Here she's altered a clipboard into a beautiful layout utilising the ever-popular chevron pattern in the papers to accent her design. The addition of hand-stitching highlights the homestyle feel of the paper designs and adds a lovely touch of texture.

 

 

Tracee has again added her hand-stitching touch to this beautiful layout featuring papers from the same line. The fussy cut flowers and leaves co-ordinate perfectly with the butterflies and add both interest and a burst of colour.

 

In this final layout from Tracee, she's created some hand-made banners from the papers to accentuate her journalling, adding a whimsical touch that ties in with the small owl and pops of colour from the fussy cut flowers.

Probably the saddest reason to send a card is to acknowledge the death of a friend or family member.  These cards need to be thoughtful and uplifting, to show care and condolences.
