It seems crazy, but the end of the year isn’t that far off (there’s less than 100 days til Christmas!) and we’re starting to think about next year. We’ve challenged our design team to design a calendar, and we want to inspire and help you to create your own calendar as well. This could be to hang in your own home, or make as a gift for a scrappy friend or a fabulous christmas present for a relative or proud grandparent.
So, each week for the next six weeks, we’re going to post layouts designed by our team for two months of 2013, along with a sketch to help you create your own page for each month. To tie the pages together, we’ve used Core’dinations Tim Holtz Kraft Core cardstock as the base of each layout, but apart from that our design team has been free to use whatever Aussie product they like on their page.
At the end of the six weeks, we’ll show you how to tie the whole thing together to create a fabulous hanging calendar.
We’d love you to join in our calendar challenge, using the sketches created by our design team. You don’t need to use the same products as our pages, but if we show them on the blog we would prefer to product to be from Aussie Scrap Source suppliers.
As each of our design team members has their own special style, it will enable you to explore a wealth of different sketches and techniques. Anyone who creates all 12 pages for their calendar and sends us images to share by the due date each week will receive a fabulous prize pack from us to start off the new scrapping year in style!
So – get scrapping and email them to us at aussiedt(at)iinet(dot)net(dot)au. We’ll need pics of your own January and February pages by next Wednesday 17th October.
We can’t wait to see how you interpret the sketches and showcase what you create!
Sue Tonga was allocated January, and had a yellow/mustard coloured cardstock to use as the base for her calendar page. She decided that the Pink Paislee Portfolio collection was a perfect complement.
Sue took the 'Amazing' paper and used a scalpel to cut out the middle sections from in between the doilies. The result was a lovely, intricate pattern that made a beautiful feature for the page. Sue added a punched circle to the centre of each doily and also stitched around each circle to add texture and colour.
Sue loves the new Heidi Swap memory files and has utilised one on her page. They are not only a great design feature but can be used for additional photos and journaling.

Danielle has created a warm summery feel for her February page, using a deep orange Core’dinations cardstock base. She has combined Studio Calico’s Heyday range with the sunshiney BasicGrey Soleil and has managed to tie a lot of different eclectic elements together softened with the use of translucent washi tape. Though this page looks quite free and random, you can can see by the sketch she has actually based her layout on solid design principles.
