It’s that time of year again, CHA Summer has just closed for another year and we’re flooded with images of all the new collections.  We’re starting with new releases from American Crafts – we love these two ranges - Dear Lizzy’s Polka Dot Party and Amy Tangerine’s Cut & Paste.

 

 

 

 

weekend inspiration: cosmo cricket

 

Danielle enjoyed using the earthy tones of Cosmo Cricket's Smore Love range for this layout. The River Rocks paper of the background is echoed by layering over the top the same design but in a washed out version. It acts as a sort of window to the page.
Cosmo Cricket's Element deck was a great source, not only of journaling spots, but also other patterned details that could be cut up to add interest around the page. Gluber strips with some bright coloured ribbons add a dimensional touch.

Suz Doyle used the fabulous Summer Love collection for this cute page.  Grey is very in vogue right now and this colour palette pops perfectly on the neutral background.  Cosmo’s fun embellishments include die cut tags and double sided chipboard banner alphas.  Because Suz had run out of the letters she needed she was able to turn them over and adhere wooden letters to the backs to create her title.

TV Dinners is a fabulous 50’s inspired range, and we loved this gift box that Donna Budzynski has created showcasing the retro star bursts.

weekend inspiration: echo park papers

 

 

When Leeann saw the birthday wishes collection by Echo Park she knew the photos she wanted to use. Leeann loved the colours in this collection and loved the sticker elements sheet also. It all coordinates perfectly and made creating this page super easy! That yellow chevron pattern paper is something! This was the staring point in this page. Leeann creating layers under her photo using the journal accents, she also trimmed a few sentiments from them. She made tiny Polaroid frames from the pattern paper and embellished with a sticker and stitching.

Leeann used the fabulous Everyday Eclectic line for this layout and the following one.  Their fun bold designs lend themselves to subtle layering effects, and we love how she has matted each layer with kraft to add give each design a neutral base.

Leanne created this quick and no fuss background by using assorted 12” masks with mists, and paper-pieced patterned paper shapes  in layers over the background.  The combination of the starbust design and the chevrons can’t help but draw your idea to the focal point – the photo of her gorgeous daughter.

Kim has used the Photo Freedom Volume 1 range from Echo Park.  Although the various Photo Freedom ranges are designed to work with the divided page protectors that are available as part of the range, Kim has shown how easy it is to also use these papers to create standard 12x12 pages.  Kim says that she loves using paper ranges that include "phrases" in their papers or embellishments and that is why she enjoyed working with the Photo Freedom Volume 1 range.

Jill has created a collage out of the Jenni Bowlin Studio papers to create a 12" x 12" canvas.  By looking closely at your papers, there are always possibilities to make something a little out of the box.

There is no doubt that Jenni Bowlin brings out  such cool vintage embellishments and Leeann loved playing with all the sticker elements. layering them and turning a couple into buttons by punching holes. One of Leeann's favourite embellishments from Jenni Bowlin is the cardstock feather. So on trend and totally fun! This page was created on a piece of Core'dinations cardstock which is from a collection of embossed cardstock. Leeann used the paint daubers and swipe it around the cardstock edges and lighter all over the background. she also used the paint daubers on a mask and then stamped the design on the cardstock.

scrapbooking events: adult birthdays and anniversaries

 

 

 

Sue used the lovely Vintage Finds Collection from Teresa Collins to scrap a page about a recent High Tea Celebration for a dear friend's birthday.  Sue loves creating collages of photos for special events as there are often more than a few photos.  By keeping the colour palette simple, Sue was able to keep the photos the focal point.

Kim has used the lovely Pinwheel range from Lily Bee Designs to scrap this photo of herself taken on her 39th birthday.  Kim said that the green paper printed with "hello" really appealed to her for a birthday layout - it is saying hello to 39!  Kim makes a point of trying to get a nice photo of herself on every birthday, though ironically for her 40th it was a big fail because she was so busy!  Kim says we always make an effort to scrap our children's birthdays - we should put the same effort into scrapping our own.

Lou Nelson lends her creative mind to the Tim Holtz Tattered Flower die on the above projects.  She has cut it out of the Tim Holtz Glassine paper and used the distressed negatives to give fabulous texture and interest to her backgrounds.

Chris Millar has made beautiful use of the Sizzix Framelits Fancy Square in these versatile cards, and shows how many new shapes you can create from one die if you just think out of the box a little.  Instant texture is created by cutting the dies on embossed Coredinations cardstock.

Jill has created a canvas using layers of the Pink Paisley Hope Chest range and gave it some texture by painting in Raw Umber using the stencil.  She has cut small interesting features out of the papers making an inspirational canvas for any wall.

Cottage Farms from Pink Paislee is a beautiful collection with peach, pink  and cream tones with a pop of lime green.  Sue loves the photo frames in the collection and just had to use them on her page.  Sue has used both the 12x12 papers as well as the 6x6 pad to utilise the smaller prints.

Karola Witzcak always creates beautiful pages, and this one is no exception.  She has combined the stunning Cottage Farms photo frames with HopeChest papers and a smattering of the Luxe metallics to create this gloriously detailed page full of layers and textures.

 

 

How pretty is this card, designed by Shellye McDaniel?  We love the way she has used a mixed of Cottage Farms, Luxe and Hope Chest to create her cards.  Those burlap butterflies are to die for!

Iris has always been a huge fan of My Mind's Eye. The reason - beautiful patterned papers with a whole matching collection including washi tapes, chipboard shapes, dimensional stickers, buttons and brads, stamps.... they thought of everything! Here, Iris takes a little bit from several embellishment packs to create this layout. Then she added a colourful outer border to the layout using torn washi tapes.

Stacey is a big fan of the My Mind's Eye ranges and here she has created a funtastic layout using the Collectable collection.  In this collection there are 4 different colour schemes and this one is called Unforgettable.  She primarily took the yellow, mustard and turquoise colours out of the collection to suit the photo of her little boy.  She really loved the hexagon paper and couldn't help but cut some of those out and layer with foam tape.  The decorative buttons where also a great addition to the layout as they come in different shapes and sizes.

Felicity Wilson has kindly shared her gorgeous creation with us using a little mix of 2 Collectable collections "Notable" and "Remarkable".  We just love her fun use of circles and her bold boyish colours.

Tina Walker is completely obsessed with scrapbooking and mixed media and love how they both embrace all types of medium, styles, and techniques. When asked If she had to describe her 'style', she said “I'm a craft chameleon.  I move (and am comfortable) with one style to the next; clean, graphic lines, to mixed up and cluttered.”  Tina’s work can be seen in various magazines (Scrapbook Trends, Creating Keepsakes, and Somerset Memories) and she is also on the Design Team for My Mind's Eye. Tina Walker’s 2nd layout “Believe in Yourself” showcases her love for sunbursts...they are free, fresh, and fun!  Tina really wanted to make a bold statement about her son, so a sunburst was the perfect design element for him.

The summer screams beach to Leeann and it happens to be the one thing they do all summer. Lazy days at the beach nothing beats the salty air and rays of sunshine. Leeann has used the colour me happy collection from glitz which is fast becoming a massive favourite for Leeann. She has also included a few other brands like prima, Heidi Swapp and Hambly Screen Prints to help pull this page together, creating layers with the papers and overlays. Adding beachy elements with prima vines, wood veneer shapes and a lasso of  twine framing a smaller photo.

Aaahhhh the beach, this is well and truly Stacey's second home.  She was thrilled to have this event to scrap as she loves nothing more than creating a beach themed layout.   She loves to add shells to her beachy creations and was excited to team this look together with Crate Paper collection "The Pier".  Her boys love making sandcastles and digging around in the sand.  The little bucket and spade chipboard piece worked a treat down the bottom right corner of her layout.  She layered her photos and also added the chipboard frames to add more depth.

Two Sizzix dies, Crate Paper’s The Pier collection and a smattering of flowers and glitter are what’s required to recreate Suz’s wedding inspiration, with her chosen palette of gelato colours and a nod to romantic, beachy, sunset themes.

 

It’s a modern take on beachy with gorgeous stripes and chevrons from The Pier collection for her Save the Date card.  Sizzix provides the embossing, and the butterfly die is one cut from the Tim Holtz Butterflight Edge die.

 

 

 

 

 

The invitation makes use of both the Butterflight Die which creates an unusual topped card, and the embossing die gives the front of the card texture and structure.  Suz has used the die a second time on vanilla cardstock and raised it for the centre of the card.  Though she has used Crate Paper’s chipboad alphas on this sample, a more economical route would obviously to be to stamp the monogram on the card.

 

 

The Butterflight theme along with the chevrons from the Save the Date card is repeated in this cute Thank You card.  The embossed thank you comes from the same embossing set which makes it super-versatile.

 

Beautiful Prima Crystal flowers adorn the table numbers on a pretty emboosed and matted card.  These are simplicity itself but the flowers help make them look a million dollars.

 

All sorts of favours can be sewn inside this pretty paper packet, simply sewn as a tube secured at right angles at either end, and again the Thank You Textured Impression is a quick and pretty way to thank your guest for attending.

 

 

 

Thanks to the lovely Audrey Underwood for providing the photography inspiration for this layout in the form of her beautiful daughter and her groom.  The gorgeous golden and teal tones and beachy theme is exactly what Suz had pictured this wedding to be all about.

Jillibean Soup is one of Leeann's favorite  companies. And even more so now as they have added so much more to their collection packs. It is jam packed full of papers, diecuts and stickers. Allowing you to just create page after page. For this page Leeann has used the cucumber soup collection. Creating plenty of layers using the papers, die-cuts and a torn piece of lattice Kraft placemat.

What is not to love about the Irish Farm House Soup range of paper and embellishments from Jillibean Soup. As always they are coordinated perfectly and suit any theme of layout and or memory to be recorded. Sue loved the beautiful blue tones in the Renew collection from Authentique and created almost a monotone page by layering the different patterned papers.  The yellow in the flowers gave the little pop of colour that the layout needed.  Sue teamed the collection with photos of her son Bailey, hanging out with their pet cockatiel named 'Lollipop'.  They were taken on yet another rainy day spent cooped up inside.

Jane layered one of the frame stickers on cream card then cut a smaller square frame out of the centre, back it with one of the pretty papers then arranged a selection of the stickers in the bottom right-hand corners . Jane said that these stickers are perfect for layering and creating cute little clusters on cards!!

Jane had trouble choosing from the beautiful vintage collection of images on the Greeting sheet but after watch a Jane Austin movie recently this one stood out the most to her! She added a William Shakespeare quote sticker at the bottom for the sentiment then stripes of the black and white scalloped sticker below it to add more detail to her card.

Louise hasn't done a traditional event layout for this page using the Fancy Pants Park Bench range. Instead she's celebrated their family tradition of a walk on the beach on Father's Day, just as the weather is warming up. To add focus to the photo she's clearcut it and punched black circles that have been adhered with pop dots for dimension and arranged them to draw the eye upwards.

Stacey believes that Mother's Day is one of the most important days of the year.  She feels truly blessed to be a Mum, it really is a love like no other.  She wanted to create a tender and pretty page to show how much being a mum means to her.  This Mother's Day was a special one filled with gifts and love, but she feels everyday is special with her boys.

Suz decided to play with some of her new Becky Higgins Project Life supplies to record the memory of last year's mother's day.  Each of her children gave her vouchers with all sorts of promises (they're finding difficult to keep!) and the divided page protectors are the perfect holder for the actual vouchers.  One set fits neatly into a 3x4 pocket, but her sons' needed a full 4x12 pocket, so Suz has cut down the centre of the bottom two pockets to create a larger one, and a handy Studio Calico Metal Flair Badge secures the join.

Rachelle Sigurdson is the queen of tattered texture and has created these beautiful cards and layout to celebrate being a mother in her signature style. With hand stitching distressed edges and pretty colours, she's combined the elements into a soft, feminine look with huge texture and detail. wedding inspiration: leeann pearce

 

 

 

 

 

Leeann took her colour inspiration from “love her madly” collection by glitz. It was the Navy, Pink and Grey that she really loved! This whole wedding set is kinda what Leeann would like to do. But more in a rainbow of colours and set in the country! This was such a great project to do, it allows you to semi arrange everything and fine tune it.

 

A jenni Bowlin chalkboard was a great idea to use for the table number. Leeann simply painted the frame white.

 

Leeann got her inspiration for the invite, save the date, reply, and thank you from searching on the net and looked at different types of ways invitation were made up.  She was impressed with the embossed letterpress way with blocks of colours and type. Leeann is by no means a computer guru and had ago on her computer, creating shaped squares and rectangles using assorted type and shapes and her chosen colour combo.

 

On the backs there was space for a reply message.

 

All the invites were printed onto cardstock and back with kraft. Machine stitched in white and pink and washi tape was added for extra detail and colour. The name plate was created using a tiny canvas primed in gesso and washi tape strip. Bella boulevard navy alpha stickers and a button for extra detail was stitched in place.

 

 

 

A little cardstock and paper journal was made for the guests to write or doodle in creating memories from the day.

 

 

A tiny jar sits on the table full on confetti for the guests to toss. Handmade arrows were made as part of the table setting.

 

 

 

Just one of many photos to scrap from the day. Leeann created a collage style page using "love her madly" by Glitz. Which comes with an assortment of embellishments to help coordinate your pages. Leaving the focus on the photo.
