weekend inspiration: luxe designs

  

Carole created this layout from Luxe Designs "Ecology" pattern papers, very cute and very fresh looking papers. Carole wanted a backyard feel to the layout, so she created the fence using the reverse side of the "Earth Day" pattern paper, and placed foam tape to the back of each piece of fence before sticking down onto the layout which gave more depth. Carole cut out the birds and the branches and made the trees with different sized circles and then distressed the edges to create the trees.

Jaimie has had this beautiful photo of her daughter in a frame for quite some time but decided to scrap it with the beautiful and girly Luxe Lovey range. A clustered arrangement of embellishments are all this page needs to make the photo pop. The pinks and greens of these papers are not overpowering and suit this little girl page. Jaimie cut down a Luxe transparency and sewed it over a torn piece of Luxe Lovey paper before layering various stickers and buttons .

A Luxe Jotter is the background for her title and she has used a flower punch to create a small flower and combined it with bling, more stickers, brads and buttons to finish of her page.

 

Gaby Alcantara from the Luxe Design Team created this very vibrant and fresh layout using the Ecology Collection. Gaby really makes the most from the pattern papers with her design, thankyou so much Gaby for sharing you gorgeous this with us.

Luxe Designs DT member Staci Taylor has created this gorgeous page using the Luxe Lovey range. We especially love her cut out and layered paper which give interest and of course that extra wow factor. Such a beautiful project Staci - thankyou for letting us share your inspiration.

 

Aida Haron has created this AMAZING page on her daughters shoes! Her layering and placement of all those little things have built this page up to its eye popping completion.

Aida Haron's altered tin also project caught our eye. Her beautiful girly tin will make the perfect keepsake gift for any little girl. Jaimie in particular fell in love with the project especially Aida's use of clustered embellishments . So so beautiful. Thankyou Aida.

 

Melissa Bove created this gorgeous centrepiece using Luxe Design "Simply Luxe" pattern papers. We thought this was so charming and just so very pretty, thankyou so much Mellissa for sharing this gorgeous project.

Jaimie has made no secret of her continual search for ranges that suit teen boy projects and Collage Press has outdone themselves with the Knave of Hearts range. The subdued colour palette is given pop with the strong reds and the packs have all you need to create many projects for that teen/tween in your family. Lots of patterns to cut out and layer in this range and Jaimie has created a cluster embellishment around her photo by using the diecuts that come in the range.

Layered strips from the paper pack create a border along with the circle cut out which frames her journalling. This range definitely has the thumbs up from us. A lovely strong masculine page.

The Sweet Shoppe range by Collage Press is the perfect mix of a candy-coloured palette with a Retro influence. Delicious warm brown and orange combined with candy pink and bright green and blue are fun and funky and perfect for these birthday photos of Nicole's daughter Madeleine. Nic found this one of the easiest paper ranges she has worked with for a while and used elements from the new die-cut circle sheet along with die-cut labels and flowers.

A strip of Hambly circles, a touch of pink cotton lace from Webster's Pages and a touch of handstitching finishes Nicole's layout beautifully.

Nic Howard has outdone herself yet again. Her beautiful design and layers allow the viewer to find something more with each look. Nic says that Collage Press has some of her favourite papers right now and she loves the Knave of Hearts collection. So do we! Thanks Nic

Jill Sprott from Oahu, Hawaii has kindly let us show her page using the Knave of Hearts range. Jills border from the die cuts that sits under the photo is lovely as is the 'connected' circles on either side of her title to mirror the intertwined circles that sit behind her picture. Thanks Jill for letting us show your beautiful work.

We are delighted to welcome Collage Press Design Team member Kristen Faust to our blog. Here Kristen shows a gorgeous example of the new die cut rings and accents in the Sweet Shoppe range. Delicious photos as well, thanks Kristen.

Carole found the Luxe Capris pattern papers very bright and vibrant, and perfect for the photos she wanted to use of her daughter Sarah.

To create the tree she cut out individual leaves and than hand stitched them into the layout, creating a tree shape, and added embellishments to finish off. Carole found the white cardstock really brought out the colour of these papers beautifully.

    

Suz chose to use the softness of the Cashmere Sweater II range, just released at CHA last month.  The beautiful pastel papers can be used are beautiful background colours just as they are, allowing your photos to shine - or they can be deepened and emphasised by the clever use of stronger coloured embellishments.  A touch of Hambly, some brighter Hero Arts sequins and gorgeous Inque Boutique Glitter chipboard letters and all of a sudden a pastel layout has some oomph!

Suz loves journalling devices and these Luxe 'To Die For Jotters' are the perfect neutral accompaniment.  They can be coloured in to co-ordinate with the rest of your layout or left classic black and white.

 

 

Nicole loved the warm homely colours of the Sundress range, in particular the rich browns and golds. They suit the home-made theme of this page perfectly.
Nic combined the Luxe papers with a Luxe Jotter, some BasicGrey and Scenic Route letters and cardstock stickers by Carolee's Creations.

The Sarong range by Luxe has a lovely warm, rich colour palette, with an assortment of rubons, papers and diecuts sure to please and perfect for an array of scrapbooking themes. For this page, Mel has used the Sarong range to show that not all beach photos need to be scrapped on the traditional blue/green papers used so often for the occasion.

Caz has always wanted to try and make one of these ball decoration thingies and decided that the bright funky colours in the Classic Black and Pashmina Luxe papers were just the thing to try it with.  To finish it off she hung some Heidi Swapp Clear Extras and some chandelier crystals from the bottom of it, linking them together with the jump rings that come with the crystals.

Her girls love it and have pinched it to hang in their room.

Natalie Hearn shows here how beautiful the strong red of the Sarong range is with lots of white and soft green.  We love the addition of her handstitched circles adding a little whimsy to this layout.

Again here Natalie has used more of the popular Sarong range - we love the details of the paper pieced heart in the centre of this layout.  Thanks Natalie for allowing us to showcase your layouts here.

Stunning is the only word that we can think of to describe this layout by Ania in Norway. From the cute photo of the kids sharing a drink to the way the photo mats have been carefully torn, curled and then sewn. Ania has used patterned paper, label and alpha stickers from the Simply Luxe range.

Another lovely layout from Ania. She has layered the brand new Transparently Yours - labeled, to make a cool background for her title and photo. The cute little black and white pictures are cut from the new Color Me Frosty paper, which shows that you don't need to colour them in at all to create great page accents. Simple Luxe alphas in pink and blue finish off this gorgeous page.

It's with excitement that we bring you this gorgeous little album by Charity Hassell. Using a combination of Luxe Cashmere papers and Scenic Route chipboard, Charity created this adorable album for her gorgeous son Alexander. Thanks Charity! 

The Classic Black range is the perfect background here for Tania Littlely's cute pup.  She has cut out and layered the flowers for some dimension, and we love how she has matted each design with a border of white for visual clarity.  Thanks for letting us use your layout Tania.

A big thank you to Janet for allowing us to showcase a couple of her Luxe layouts. We love her beautiful photos and clean lines. Here she has teamed black and white photos with the Luxe Classic Black range. The simple coloured chipboard accent finishes the page off beautifully.

Janet has used the Cashmere Sweater line and Luxe alpha and paisley rub-ons to highlight this sweet photo of her daughter deep in thought. Just lovely!

A big thankyou to Staci Taylor (a member of the Luxe Design Team) for sharing this adorable layout for our blog post. Stacy used a new transparency from the Transparently Yours series, hand cutting a flower out of the transparency, painting it and then adding microbeads. Aren't they just the sweetest teeny weeny bikini photos!!

Janine Wahl provided us with this striking layout using a variety of Luxe products. It's such a super cute photo and looks beautiful teamed up with the black, red, white and splash of lime green. Thanks so much Janine!

 

 

 

In yet another fabulous layout from Janine she shows us how well the different Luxe lines go together. Here she has used papers from The Simply Red Line, The Sarong Line, Classic Black and The Polo Shirt Line. Add Epoxy Stickers in green, Jotters Journaling Spots and a couple of photos of her and her hubby hamming it up and you get a totally fun page. Thanks for sharing Janine.

product focus: simply luxe

 

luxe designs has released a new range of cardstocks called Simply Luxe.  This range was created to be the ultimate mix and match collection to integrate into your stash of scrapbook supplies.  Not only do the colours match all the lines from Luxe Designs, they also took care to make sure they matched favourite products from other manufacturers.  These are timeless designs and classic colours that can be used over and over and still look fresh.  They can either be used as they are or altered as the subtle designs are perfect for stamping, painting or inking or even glimmermisting!

 

 

This collection features ten items in each of Luxe's core colours - classic black, tiffany turquoise, cobalt blue, engine red, island green and hot pink.  There are six double sided patterned papers with simple designs such as lines, ledgers, dots, grids and pinstripes as well as cardstock label stickers, alpha stickers, punch out journalling jotters and epoxy stickers.  All in all, everything you need to make some fabulous basic layouts, and mix and match with the rest of your stash.

To bring a bit of colour to the Simply Black range Chris used this terrific and very colourful photo of her kids from their recent trip to the Andy Warhol Exhibition. Chris also used the Luxe-urious Stamp borders to add some pizzazz to the layout. She stamped them onto white cardstock with coloured ink, but the ink just wasn't as bright as she had hoped, so she coloured over them with coloured markers and outlined them with black pen.

 

Chris has used the border stamps again on this layout to create a funky frame for her photo and to create the interesting border around her layout. Simply stamp the images onto white cardstock, cut around them and attach to layout. Add a bit of colour with markers. Chris has combined the Trinket range with the Simply black range for this layout

 

To create this fun layout Chris used the Trinket and Color Me ranges along with lots of hand doodling.

Suz immediately loved the softness of the Turqouise Simply Luxe, and of course combined with all that white on one side of the patterned papers, it was right up her alley.  The patterns are light and subtle and small, happy to take a back seat while the all important photos and story stand out. 

She found the softness of the colours also worked beautifully with the Grungeboard elements which she has inked and sprayed with Suede and Patina Glimmermists. 

 

 

Carole has also created this layout using the Luxe Blue Pattern Papers. Carole has incorporated Lime Green which really sets off this layout, and embellished with layered flowers and a cute bird, she has also used dimensional Magic on the dots around the photo frame, which has been raised with foam tape.

 

   

Carole loved using this Blue and White Combination from Luxe Design (Simply Luxe Blue), very striking layout with the added colour in the deep red of the Butterfly.
Carole created some 3 Dimensional Flowers with the different combination papers in this range, and loved the effect she achieved.

Carole also used the Diecuts as a background.

 

Sometimes we work really hard to fill a page, but there are times when we can just let the products and the photos (of course) do all the hard work for us! This beautiful range of girlie pink pp's by Luxe speak volumes and combined with a sweet black and white photo...well, all the hard work is done. This is one of Donna's favourite pages this year - simple, but adorable.

 

 

Mel loves spots and she loves red so she whipped up this vibrant layout in no time.  Combining it with black made it even more striking.

 

 

 

Nicole loved the way the Luxe Lime papers softened the stark white of her background. The green colour brought out the gorgeous greens in her photograph and by combining the Luxe Lime with Scenic Route Lauren and Lyndon, Nicole was able to create a high contrast and striking page.

The Luxe Lime combines beautifully with not only Scenic Route but also with these Tinkering Ink word stickers and possibly a whole host of other brand papers. By adding a few little pieces of chipboard and Maya Road/Luxe acrylic ribbon, Nicole was finally able to scrap this very old photoof her daughter beautifully!

meet the dt: jaimie loves luxe

I have to be totally honest when I first set eyes on the initial Luxe Design range I was scared … real scared. Such bold colours and design that were totally left field compared to what was on the market at the time. However, Luxe wooed me and soon my love affair with this manufacturer began. With each new range release my heart would skip a beat as I poured over the site like a kid in a candy shop, like a good bottle of wine they get better and better with age (range).

There are three ranges that have become personal favourites, although Id happily use any and all of them – Classic black (appeals to the vamp in me), Polo Shirt (so funky AND versatile for male or female projects) and finally Sarong (makes me want to jump on a plane to Bali). I think the main appeal is that they are so different, not run of the mill, cookie cutter imitations, plus the fact that they are double sided so there is the added advantage of a two for the price of one thinking, which is always good when I have to justify my purchases to my husband. The designs are innovative and colour choices unique and just when I thought they couldn’t top themselves they release ranges of a seemingly never ending supply of rubons and jotters – I am a very happy girl.

When I first saw this Sarong purse kit on site I thought what a cute little project – when it arrived on my scrapping desk I was not disappointed. I loved the fact that there were no ‘real’ instructions which allowed me to create what took my fancy – I realise a lack of direction may cause some people to shy away from such a project so maybe my mini album will give you inspiration to just sit and create.

 

I picked up this set of four shadow box frames from Kmart a year ago and they have sat waiting patiently for me to get to them. I knew I wanted to showcase recent family photos and when I put my hands on Luxe Classic Black and Pashmina paper I knew I had the perfect combination. With a little Heidi Swapp tape, some Love You More gem brads, SEI buttons and of course rubons and jotters thrown in for good measure, I completed this project in a couple of hours and now they are showcased on my wall.

 

 

 

The Pashmina range screams girlie – I couldn’t wait to cut out all those gorgeous swirls and flourishes from the Sachet paper. Once trimmed out I layered them over a cut down strip of Bubble Gum paper and adhered them with a mixture of glue dots and foam tape to give dimension and lift off the page. The simple addition of a jotter serves the dual purpose of title and a place to add journaling.

 

Ahh Polo Shirt – Im never disappointed. This range is so pretty and as stated earlier is perfect for either Male or Female projects. To keep with a girlie theme I roughly trimmed around the flowers from the Snow Cone paper, layered and machine stitched them together before adhering them to my page. The title is (of course) Polo Shirt Alpha Die cuts with a little bit of Heidi, Carolee and Luxe rubons to finish.

 

Now Ill let you into a little secret … for those of you still with me. You might like to try some of the Luxe ranges but are a little concerned that they are too bright and bold, then I suggest you grab some of the transparencies – not only are they a beautiful addition to your projects BUT they have the dual purpose of toning down those burn out your retinas colour palettes that are synonymous to Luxe.

Luxe Designs motto ‘invites you to live the Luxe life”. Their boast is a mighty one that says Luxe is cutting edge, chic simplicity, crafted colour palettes, creative inspiration with a dash of whimsy and finally core matter for the inner artist. It is a mighty boast but one I have to agree with. Luxe isn’t for the faint hearted – its for those bold and brave enough to have pages that shout! Are you brave enough to make some noise?

dt challenge: 4 products 4 ways

 

Another in our series of design team challenges.  The list of ingredients were as follows: 

• Luxe Designs patterned papers
• Scenic Route Paper chipboard alphabets
• Fontwerks stickers
• Strano Designs 1.5" ribbons

One little difference in these new challenges is that the above ingredients were specified, but the choice of papers, of alphas, of ribbon colour etc was down to individual design team members.  The different looks they came up with were, as ever, fascinating.

 

The simple flowing design of the Luxe 'Disco Ball' patterned paper seemed perfect for a slightly minimalist layout. Donna simply cut a few portions of paper from a hand-cut section and adhered a couple of different pp's below it. And...just to mix it up and create a smidgen more texture, a small piece of Strano was also added below the elongated swirl. The result is simple, but upon closer inspection, quite unexpected.

 

 

As ever Suz needed colour, which she managed to introduce by bringing in the orange with her choice of Strano ribbon and Fontwerks stickers, and she painted Heidi Swapp letters to match.  Check out the texture in her Scenic Route letters though - she had a bit of fun with the new Tim Holtz Texture Hammer.  It worked well with this furry photo she was showcasing.

Jaimie cut out the leaf & vine design from two sheets of Luxe First Class paper, then pinch folded before covering one 'set' of leaves with Dimensional Magic. Once dry she then layered the pinched leaves onto the remaining vine giving instant dimension. Jaimie inked the Scenic Route chipboard with Stazon before finally layering the Fontwerks Label stickers into a cluster and adding the rest of her title with the Carolee's alpha stickers, a few Luxe arrow rubons and the results speak for themselves.

 

Chris used the black, red and teal colours of the Stiletto Luxe papers to scrap this school Christmas occasion. She then cleverly used the Fontwerks label stickers as frames for her tiny photos. The chipboard and stitched ribbon add lots of dimension to the layout.

Polo Perfection!! is what Jaimie Emmerton says about this new range from Luxe Design. With so many fantastic designs to choose from in the Polo range it was difficult to limit herself to just a couple - so Jaimie used all of them to create the following pages.

 

Most of us only like to scrap the 'good' photos - so when Jaimie was faced with three very 'ordinary' pictures of her children she decided to challenge herself and scrap them. The bright and funky Luxe paper kept in with the fun approach Jaimie was after for her LO. Lots of action & fun with cut outs from the Fireworks paper, Luxe rubons, Plain Jane chipboard arrows and a mix and match title using Luxe die cut alphas and Fontwerks Clear stamps.

 

Oh yes - the quiet ones are the ones to watch, with this in mind Jaimie wanted to create a fun LO that kept with the tone of her page about her sons zany ways. Combining circles and squares with the lovely rich co-ordinating Luxe paper and Heidi Swapp journaling spots, Jaimie then added Luxe Sarong die cut alphas for a title that wouldn't be lost amongst the blue/green of the Polo range. Some Carolee's stickers and handwritten journaling finish of her page beautifully.

 

Steph loved the movement in the Luxe Papers especially the circles in the Pashmina Range. She has followed the flow of the shape by emphasizing it with sequins to lift the pattern off of the page. Her journalling was printed out in Word Perfect and run through her printer onto a jotter. The rub-ons form the perfect frame for Emma's name.

 

The talented Kerry Starr from Scrap in the Box has created this lovely page of her daughter Lauren using a mix of Luxe product from the Hoodie, Sarong and Cocktail Dress ranges.

Kerry says "I wanted to keep the layout fairly simple as there is hardly any colour on the photo and I didn't want to overwhelm it. I cut the flowers up into petals so that I could give the idea of most of the blooms beginning to open rather than fully formed flowers a bit like my daughter's journey into womanhood" Gorgeous Kerry and thankyou for allowing us to show your beautiful work.

In the moment is by Lecia Forrest of Canada and we were so awed by her fantastic use of the Polo Shirt range - the little additions of buttons and perfectly placed rubons makes for a wonderful eye-catching LO.

 

Subtlety is the key with this beautiful LO by Jane Hasty of the US. Jane has backed the Alphas onto black cardstock to make them pop on and the simple additions of rubons compliment her page without detracting from the lovely photo.

 

WOW was the catch cry when we saw this fabulous page by Luxe's Pam Lambie - there is so much to see and take in, this beautiful page belongs in a frame not an album.

 

More gorgeous work from Luxe's very talented Pam Lambie - the subtle tones work perfectly with the subdued photo and gives a sense of timeless elegance. Beautiful.

 

 

 

Pam Lambie has created this gorgeous keepsake box for someone special - the combination of pink and black is striking and the addition of the silk flower finishes off the project perfectly.

 

      

And finally, how cute and funky is this diary by Luxe's Emily Adams - such a simple concept brought to life with the beautiful Pashmina range to complete an eye-catching project.

Suz has created this memento of an outing earlier in the year using the 'Sarong' line of patterned papers.  Gorgeous deep reds combine with olive and white in this line and the die cut alphas are a handy size. She has used both alpha rubons and some of the design rubons on her page, and of course a Jenni Bowlin chipboard butterfly would make the perfect accent.

 

 

The Luxe Classic Black line of patterned papers teams up with accents of Lime Green Strano ribbon and Heidi Swapp Floral centres here for a striking look by Suz.  With big thanks to Raylene Wilkinson for providing both the photo and Gus, the birthday boy!

 

 

Chris put the lovely pastel colours of the Cashmere Sweater papers to great use when creating this page of herself and her girlfriends. For contrast she embellished the page with the Dots border rub-ons, she cleverly manipulated the rub-ons to create some small swirls with the dots showing how versatile the product is. Chris stamped the Hero Arts Doodle Leaf flower stamp onto the Cashmere Sweater papers and created extra petals for the flowers on her layout.

   

 

 

Deanne Schermerhorn used the fab Luxe die cut sheet to make up this gorgeous little bag with the Cashmere Sweater papers in a flash.  She has fashioned a simple but lovely mini album bound with a key chain and used the Luxe die cut monograms as a quick embellishment for each page.   

 

The talented Lynn Whelan has shown us in this layout how amazing the Classic Black range combines with Kraft cardstock to create this fantastic layout. Thank you Lynn for sharing your talent with us.

 

 

Check out this super cool layout from Emily Adams! Emily is the marketing director of Luxe Designs and she certainly has shown us how to work the Classic Black range in this fun and fabulous layout!

 

We have Charity Hassel to thank for this eye catching layout using the 'Cocktail Dress' range.  We love how she has angled the paper design, her superb close up, even her journalling and still managed to keep the layout balanced.  Simple yet striking.

 

   

Finally, we were thrilled to be able to show off this gorgeous mini album by Charity Hassel as well.  Still using the Cocktail Dress papers on a completely different theme shows just how versatile these papers can be.  Charity has combined them with Scenic Route chipboard circles to create a stunning little keepsake.
