weekend inspiration: rouge de garance

 

Caz fell in love with this bag in the duty free store on the cruise she went on recently. She walked past it and admired it so many times that her friends told her in exasperation to "Just buy it". Caz has used the gorgeous Rouge de Garance Gustave/Paris papers as she loved the soft colours and prints, plus the journaling tag had 'souvenir' printed on it which fit in perfectly.

The Hero Arts Collage Art Flowers and Pearl Accents, white chipboard swirls and chipboard sub-title help to make an interesting circular border framing the single photo

 

 

Steph loves to incorporate transparencies into her projects, and the Rouge De Garance transparencies have a young funky feel to them. Here Steph cut out the middle of her cardstock and placed the transparency over the back of the cardstock. From the front, a window now appears that you can adhere images or rub-ons onto. This is very effective as shown here by Steph's cut out Rouge De Garance flowers and embellishments. This technique gives yet another versatile look to your layouts.

 

 

These two breathtaking layouts come from Lesley Cooper of Auckland, New Zealand.  We love how she has incorporated the designs and the colour palettes of the patterned paper into the themes of her layouts, with stunning results.  Thanks Lesley!

 

 

We adored the simplicity of a layout using one of the busier Rouge de Garance patterned papers in this eye-catching layout by Nina von Loeper, of Germany.  Love the amount of journalling she has fitted in, love the gorgeous old Sassafras owl rubon she’s included in her embellishment cluster!  Thanks so much Nina.

 

 

 

The greens, blues and browns of the Aile ou Fleur range are stunning at the best of times but combine them with a touch of Queen & Co Felt Fusion, Prima flowers and Hambly Rubons and you have yourself a layout as gorgeous as this one above by Melanie Blackburn of Ottawa, Canada.  We love the pop of lime in the colour palette, and the beautiful photography.  Thank you Melanie!

countdown to christmas: rouge de garance

Carole created this darling little Christmas "Twiddlebitz Star" Album using the gorgeous Rose Moka "Mec" collection, the vibrant blues and greens matched perfectly with the Cosmo Cricket Jolly By Golly and Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses Chipboard Stickers, and what a cute little album it is. Carole has created this gorgeous embellished album as a gift for one of her friends, I am sure she will love it.

As you can see Carole has mixed and matched several manufacturer's together, but it works perfectly for this album.

countdown to christmas: twiddleybitz

Nicole is well prepared for this year's Christmas photos having created this gorgeous mini-album from a Twiddleybitz chipboard book. The intricate detail on the cover front lends itself to a host of different treatments, in this case Nicole painted the fine details with Twinkling H2O paints by LuminArte, then inked all of the edges with Distress Ink.

She has backed the cover with a Hambly overlay for decorative appeal but you could also leave it as is, use a clear back, a cardstock or paper back, the possibilities are just about endless.

Proving also that you don't need Christmas themed papers for Christmas projects, Nic embellished the pages of this album with papers by Rouge de Garance and trims by we R Memory Keepers. Also by We R Memory Keepers are the fabulous glitter rub-ons in this book and the chipboard pieces are by Twiddleybitz.

All Nic needs to do now is celebrate Christmas, take some snaps and put them in this book!

  

introducing: rouge de garance

Lace papers are one of those new products with plenty of versatility, as Nic Howard shows with this Rouge De Garance layout. Rouge De Garance creates a range of fine lace papers with coordinating patterned papers and Nic has used both here. She has used the patterned paper as a border with a sheet of Aussie Scrap Source white cardstock to build the base of the layout.

Nic cut a small portion of the lace paper, with plenty left over, to use as a border embellishment under the photo. Adding some circles and handmade flowers from the deep colours of the Rouge De Garance Village de'herbe range and the page was nearly complete.

Final details include smaller pieces cut from more of the RDG Village de'herbe papers, BasicGrey alphas and Opalines, and journaling to finish. Nic mentioned that each sheet of RDG paper had plenty of possibilities to cut out, colours are rich and varying, it's easy to get a range of colours from your layout from one sheet!

  

 

Suz loved the richness of colours in the Rouge de Garance Aile ou Fleur range – a saturation of blues, browns and the most stunning limes make these papers pure eye candy.  The circle theme clearly worked with her photos and she chose a simple colour blocking layout to best showcase them.

 

  

The Urbaine range of papers from Rouge de Garance has so much going on in it that you don't need to add much more to create eye-catching pages. Caz has teamed the papers up with some chipboard alphas and shapes to create these bright funky pages. The first showing her sons current career choices at 8 years of age, and the second... well showing that her eldest doesn't do mornings very well, particularly camping mornings which involved a very late night the night before.

These versatile papers are all double sided meaning that even though there are only 6 papers in the range, Caz has so far managed to create 4 completely different looking layouts with plenty of paper left over for at least 4 more.

There are a fabulous range of beautiful and intricate lace cut papers coming out at the moment – BasicGrey, SEI, Little Yellow Bicycle and Rouge de Garance are all stamping their own individual looks on to them.  They’re easy and beautiful to use, adding an intricacy to pages and projects with very little effort.

 

 

Carole loved creating with the new Lace sheets (intricate Cut paper) by Basic Grey, Carole used the cute June Bug Collection and also the Chip Sticky Shapes. The colours of this range are very vibrant and very colourful. The lace sheets are very versatile you can use them as full sheets or you can cut them into pieces as shown by Carole to make borders etc.,

 

 

 

And here Suz has used stunning Rouge de Garance Fine Designs – these come in a pack with a sheet of lace paper and a co-ordinating double sided cardstock weight patterned paper.  Suz has saved the patterned papers for future projects though, and has used just lace cuts on this gorgeous little 4x6” Scrapworks purse album. 

She found these ‘beauty secrets’, often attributed to Audrey Hepburn  but actually written by Sam Levenson, and decided to use them as a lasting keepsake to remind her make up loving six year old that beauty on the inside is more important.

Having the chance to play with Rouge De Garance is like dipping your paintbrush into a rainbow. The patterned papers are the most vivid hues of rainbow colours & a palette that Steph couldn't resist. Here she has used border punches & tearing technique to create her strips which form the background for the image. Steph has hand cut the little Rouge De Garance brightly coloured birds & pretty flowers. To add some texture to her layout, Steph has tied a frayed bow of yellow dots & adhered it to the page.

 

 

Chris just loved the bright and fabulous colours of the Adele range and decided to make a set of birthday cards. By layering the patterns and adding some gems and flowers the set of cards fit nicely into the cards box and are all ready to be whipped out next time a birthday comes along. Chris also personalised one of the cards by cutting out the 'A' from the Adele paper and placing it on a card for her daughter Annaliese.

The Jenni Bowling crepe ribbon and polka dot chipboard buttons match perfectly as embellishments to accompany the Adele range.

weekend inspiration: collage press

Jaimie has made no secret of her continual search for ranges that suit teen boy projects and Collage Press has outdone themselves with the Knave of Hearts range. The subdued colour palette is given pop with the strong reds and the packs have all you need to create many projects for that teen/tween in your family. Lots of patterns to cut out and layer in this range and Jaimie has created a cluster embellishment around her photo by using the diecuts that come in the range.

Layered strips from the paper pack create a border along with the circle cut out which frames her journalling. This range definitely has the thumbs up from us. A lovely strong masculine page.

The Sweet Shoppe range by Collage Press is the perfect mix of a candy-coloured palette with a Retro influence. Delicious warm brown and orange combined with candy pink and bright green and blue are fun and funky and perfect for these birthday photos of Nicole's daughter Madeleine. Nic found this one of the easiest paper ranges she has worked with for a while and used elements from the new die-cut circle sheet along with die-cut labels and flowers.

A strip of Hambly circles, a touch of pink cotton lace from Webster's Pages and a touch of handstitching finishes Nicole's layout beautifully.

Nic Howard has outdone herself yet again. Her beautiful design and layers allow the viewer to find something more with each look. Nic says that Collage Press has some of her favourite papers right now and she loves the Knave of Hearts collection. So do we! Thanks Nic

Jills border from the die cuts that sits under the photo is lovely as is the 'connected' circles on either side of her title to mirror the intertwined circles that sit behind her picture.
