Sue used the lovely Vintage Finds Collection from Teresa Collins to scrap a page about a recent High Tea Celebration for a dear friend's birthday.  Sue loves creating collages of photos for special events as there are often more than a few photos.  By keeping the colour palette simple, Sue was able to keep the photos the focal point.

Kim has used the lovely Pinwheel range from Lily Bee Designs to scrap this photo of herself taken on her 39th birthday.  Kim said that the green paper printed with "hello" really appealed to her for a birthday layout - it is saying hello to 39!  Kim makes a point of trying to get a nice photo of herself on every birthday, though ironically for her 40th it was a big fail because she was so busy!  Kim says we always make an effort to scrap our children's birthdays - we should put the same effort into scrapping our own.

The summer screams beach to Leeann and it happens to be the one thing they do all summer. Lazy days at the beach nothing beats the salty air and rays of sunshine. Leeann has used the colour me happy collection from glitz which is fast becoming a massive favourite for Leeann. She has also included a few other brands like prima, Heidi Swapp and Hambly Screen Prints to help pull this page together, creating layers with the papers and overlays. Adding beachy elements with prima vines, wood veneer shapes and a lasso of  twine framing a smaller photo.

Aaahhhh the beach, this is well and truly Stacey's second home.  She was thrilled to have this event to scrap as she loves nothing more than creating a beach themed layout.   She loves to add shells to her beachy creations and was excited to team this look together with Crate Paper collection "The Pier".  Her boys love making sandcastles and digging around in the sand.  The little bucket and spade chipboard piece worked a treat down the bottom right corner of her layout.  She layered her photos and also added the chipboard frames to add more depth.

Louise hasn't done a traditional event layout for this page using the Fancy Pants Park Bench range. Instead she's celebrated their family tradition of a walk on the beach on Father's Day, just as the weather is warming up. To add focus to the photo she's clearcut it and punched black circles that have been adhered with pop dots for dimension and arranged them to draw the eye upwards.

Stacey believes that Mother's Day is one of the most important days of the year.  She feels truly blessed to be a Mum, it really is a love like no other.  She wanted to create a tender and pretty page to show how much being a mum means to her.  This Mother's Day was a special one filled with gifts and love, but she feels everyday is special with her boys.

Suz decided to play with some of her new Becky Higgins Project Life supplies to record the memory of last year's mother's day.  Each of her children gave her vouchers with all sorts of promises (they're finding difficult to keep!) and the divided page protectors are the perfect holder for the actual vouchers.  One set fits neatly into a 3x4 pocket, but her sons' needed a full 4x12 pocket, so Suz has cut down the centre of the bottom two pockets to create a larger one, and a handy Studio Calico Metal Flair Badge secures the join.

Rachelle Sigurdson is the queen of tattered texture and has created these beautiful cards and layout to celebrate being a mother in her signature style. With hand stitching distressed edges and pretty colours, she's combined the elements into a soft, feminine look with huge texture and detail. Leeann's girls have been playing hockey for the last couple of years and she has certainly enjoyed watching them grow in this sport. They certainly are starting to get a reputation as the fierce Pearce girls! Leeann couldn't wait to dive into Crate Papers DIY collection. She loved the photo overlays, this was the starting point for the page. The ephemera pack has an assortment of dates, numbers, cards tabs, tags etc. Which Leeann used to help create matts and peek a boo tabs.

Danielle’s daughter started drama classes this year, so Danielle chose to focus on this activity for her double page layout. Since she can’t actually take photos during the drama class, Danielle used a variety of instagram photos she had taken of Sienna in various dramatic / make believe outfits and poses. With 8 photos and a teeny touch of journaling, she has captured the reason why the drama classes are such a success.

This page design is really flexible for multi-photo pages, especially at this small size, each photo being just a couple of inches square. While Danielle featured one row of photos, you could add a second or even third row above to expand on your story, or add more detailed journaling. Danielle also featured a couple of pages of the Smash ‘Play’ mini-book as paper elements, amid Fancy Pants ‘Down by the Shore’ patterned paper, Glitz Designs paper layers and a Cosmo Cricket tag.

Suz’s daughter is loving calisthenics at the moment and went away on her first mother-daughter Dance Camp recently.  Suz has chosen to record snippets from this weekend in a layout using a whole mix of her favourite brands, from Studio Calico’s HeyDay, to Prima flowers, American Crafts thickers and the supercute Heidi Swapp mini envelopes.  The sequins aren’t any scrapbooking brand but Suz had to include some to as a memory of all the ones she sewed on the weekend!

Stacey choose an apple as her backdrop for her boys first day of Kindergarten photos.  She painted the apple first and then proceeded to layer the fun papers and embellishments from the Basic Grey collection 'Hey You'. 

Both photos feature 2 of her boys but she highlighted the 'kindy' boys in the middle as the photos were from 2 different years.  Stacey loved the alphabet paper out of the collection which suited the school photo theme perfectly.  Lots of fun buttons and flags were added too.

Leeann made an album for her daughter, Storm using all her actual school photos. She wants Storm to take this album to school, getting lots of autographs from her friends and teachers.
Leeann used papers from Heidi Swapp/Colour Pop they are actual mistable papers. She embellished the outside with Jenni Bowlin tags and American Crafts Foam Thickers.

The inside was made from cardstock which was randomly misted and stamped. A few Hambly Overlays were added as extra pages. Allowing plenty of pages for photos to come and also for storm to write or doodle notes. Photos were adhered and framed using an assortment of Washi tapes. Finishing the album off with some twine and buttons.

A trip to the zoo is a classic family outing, and it so happened that Danielle went with her family just a few weeks ago! From the antics of the members of the family, to the animals themselves, there are plenty of photo-ops, leading to a generous selection of images to choose from. To include as many pictures as possible, Danielle used the Bo Bunny Press 'Family Is' collection to create a simple, but full, collage style layout about the outing.
Each photo was printed on matte photo paper at about 3 inches long, and then these are collaged around the background paper, blended in with paint. The title is a blend of chipboard stickers and part of the background paper that was deliberately left visible. This resulted in a quick but fun, family-oriented page!

Suz chose to record memories from a trip to Luna Park.  There’s so much life and colour in the photos and the memories from the day that Cosmo Cricket’s ‘Summer Love’ colour palette worked perfectly.  To stop it from being to busy Suz used a kraft base cardstock.  She loved the banner embellishments, and added a line of stitching in the background to suggest the lines of the famous Luna Park rollercoaster.

Suz chose to use the new BasicGrey Hipster to showcase her Australia Day barbie photos.  Its soft neutral tones are a great canvas to let lots of photos stand out, and yet still inject a bit of personality into her page.   She created a panel of three 6x4 photos with a total of 11 photos on this layout and there’s still room for a little creativity and journalling in one of the cute BG Hipster file folders, and the Been There Done That Australia rubons are the perfect addition for the theme.

What is more Aussie than spending the Day with Family and friends doing the things that you love together; fishing, walking on the beach, and BBQ's. Louise has scrapped one such moment for her close friends. All this family goodness in one day is just the most perfect way to spend the day!

Scrapping kids birthday parties can often be overwhelming, between the number of photos taken and wanting to make a page special, so Suz is glad she’s finally been given a reason to get Phoebe’s 8th birthday pics scrapped. 

Twenty photos are included in this double page (many of them taken by the lovely Nicole Finlayson!).  The grid of eighteen 2” square photos gives an overview of the activities of the day without overwhelming the page, a couple of favourite photos are enlarged and there’s still room for journalling and white space.  American Crafts ‘My Girl’ papers and embellishments were perfectly toned and themed for this vibrant page.

Iris turns to "Project Life" style of scrapping when she wants to document several photos from an event. In this page, she documents one of the many birthday treats her girls got this year. Since they both celebrate their birthdays in December, there is bound to be hundreds of moments that she would like to record. She used the new collection from Webster's Pages "Sweet Notes" to create this fun and colourful page. The heart resin of Webster's Pages adds the perfect accent and finishes off her layout.

Birthdays are another one of those events where you might take so many photos it’s too overwhelming to edit them down, or if you share your layouts online it might not be appropriate to include other little people’s faces.  They’re one of the most fun events to document though, especially watching your little men grow up as you look back on the years.

Here’s a look at how Louise and Stacey dealt with their son’s birthdays.

 

Louise has created this muted birthday layout using the Basic Grey Bow Ties and Knee Highs range to show that you don't have to go bright to make a page fun. She hand drew and cut out the balloons, using some crochet thread as a fun element to tie the elements together.

For this colourful layout Louise again used the Knee Highs and Bow Ties range from Basic Grey. By using foam squares to raise the adhesive letters off the page, she's added dimension and highlighted the heading to make it really pop off the page.

What better way to scrap the "Birthday Boy" than with Crate Paper's Party Day collection.  This collection has loads of cute embellishments which worked a treat with Stacey's 1st birthday photos of her little boy.

Is it time to do another reader’s challenge??  We thought so!!  Each week we’re going to focus on one of those events and celebrations that happen annually, and with them often comes a challenge on how to present them in a new way.  Sometimes the number of photos you take can be overwhelming and so they just stay on a hard disk or in a photo packet.

 

This week, our design team looks at easter, from the egg hunt through to the devouring of the stash.  You could check out earlier easter posts too, here and another super cute layout here for inspiration. 

We’d love to showcase your easter themed layouts too, especially the doubles with lots of photos – from project life style through to mixed media projects.  Please ensure that lots of products you use come from our own suppliers – you can check the list here.

Sue Tonga has designed this double-page layout using the Webster's Park Drive collection, mixed with a little Prima.  Sue has made the left page her feature and then created a simple collage for the second page.  This allowed her to scrap lots of photos from their Easter Hunt last year.  By keeping the colour palette fairly soft, Sue was able to incorporate lots of colourful photos without having them all compete with each other.

Even though most Easter ranges include pink, Kim has used the Echo Park Easter Mini Theme papers and embellishments to good effect for the layout to record her son's Easter egg hunt in London.  Kim has minimised the amount of pink she used and drawn out the other colours in the range by introducing a yellow paper from Simple Stories by MemoryWorks and with paper tapes from Bella Blvd to create the random strips at the top and bottom of the page.  This has allowed Kim to still utilise the "theme" elements of the range without the page becoming too feminine.
